Obama Snubs Barrow; Endorses Abrams, Riggs-Amico and Two State House Challengers
Former President Barack Obama made his “first wave” of endorsements nationwide in the 2018 race. While four Georgia Democrats received his good news, John Barrow, a national co-chair of Obama’s “Vote for Change” initiative during the 2008 presidential race, did not.
Ouch.
A message was left for the Barrow campaign and I’ll update when I have a response.
The lucky Peachy Dems were: Stacey Abrams, Sarah Riggs-Amico and Matthew Wilson and Shelly Hutchison, running for HD 80 and HD 107 respectively.
President Obama said in a statement released by the Abrams campaign:
She’s not running a campaign built on division or distraction; she’s running to lead one Georgia where everybody has opportunity, and everybody’s voice is heard. And she’s got the record of building consensus that shows she can deliver – with good jobs, great public education, expanded Medicaid, and secure, affordable health insurance for everyone. In a time when too many folks are focused simply on how to win an election, Stacey’s somebody who cares about something more important: why we should. That’s the kind of politics we should practice.
I’m confident that, together, they’ll strengthen this country we love by restoring opportunity, repairing our alliances and standing in the world, and upholding our fundamental commitment to justice, fairness, responsibility, and the rule of law. But first, they need our votes.

Does the endorsement or non-endorsement even matter?
It did for Kemp! 40 point win…thanks to….The Great Man!
You are clueless. Obama didn’t lose the state by 40 points.
44 obama aaron the coincidence!
Q is right!
It should also be noted the official release stated he will be endorsing additional candidates in the upcoming months. By your logic Obama snubbed John Lewis too.
Barrow is a blue dog Dem.
I’m sure he could have had the endorsement if he thought it would be helpful. Still the best choice for Secretary of State.
Lewis is uncontested and Obama is only endorsing after primaries.
Or both.
Given Barrow’s history, it would be easy to believe that he doesn’t think it would be helpful.
It will be interesting to see the vote percentages for him and Abrams, i.e., the Obama effect.
