House Majority Whip Announces House Whip Team

House Majority Whip Christian Coomer (R-Cartersville) announced his whip team for the upcoming 2017-2018 legislative session.  From a Georgia House press release:

Georgia House Majority Whip Christian Coomer (R-Cartersville) today announced the appointment of his Deputy Whip team.

“We have selected some of the brightest and best leaders in the State of Georgia to serve on the Majority Whip’s team,” said Majority Whip Coomer. “Each of the deputy whips possesses the skills to move our Republican Caucus toward continued success.”

The Deputy Whip team will include Reps.: Beth Beskin, (R-Atlanta), Chief Deputy Whip; Dave Belton (R-Buckhead); Shaw Blackmon (R-Bonaire); Micah Gravley (R-Douglasville); Dominic LaRiccia (R-Douglas); Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee); Jesse Petrea (R-Savannah); Betty Price (R-Roswell); Trey Rhodes (R-Greensboro); Brian Strickland (R-McDonough); and Bill Werkheiser (R-Glennville).

Members of the Deputy Whip team are responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping their fellow House members understand the details of bills and resolutions.

Representative Beth Beskin (R-Atlanta) issued a press release concerning her appointment by Rep. Coomer to the spot of Chief Deputy Whip within the House Republican Caucus:

Georgia House Majority Whip Christian Coomer (R-Cartersville) today announced the appointment of a new Chief Deputy Whip, Rep. Beth Beskin (R-Atlanta).

“I am thrilled and honored to be selected for this position by Majority Whip Christian Coomer,” said Rep. Beskin.  “I look forward to working with Whip Coomer, the Deputy Whips and the entire Majority Caucus to effectively and efficiently move our legislative initiatives from introduction to passage and implementation.”

Members of the majority whip team and the Chief Deputy, in particular, play a critical role by monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and by helping members of the majority caucus to better understand the details of bills and resolutions.
