State tax revenue from alcohol sales has reached new highs, according to data from the Georgia Department of Revenue, which show that as coronavirus numbers peaked in the state, booze was flying off liquor store shelves like toilet paper. In July 2020, the latest month for which tax info is available, wholesalers paid the state $20.2 million in taxes.
