Today is a monumental day. On this date in 1866, the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was passed by Congress. It was ratified on July 9, 1868. The amendment was designed to grant citizenship to and protect the civil liberties of recently freed slaves. It did this by prohibiting states from denying or abridging the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States, depriving any person of his life, liberty, or property without due process of law, or denying to any person within their jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Kemp’s appointment of John King might be a savvy political move, but what the hell does a cop know about the insurance business?
Other than what I read, I don’t know anything about Mr. King. I do know that there is a LOT that goes on with the Safety/Fire side of the office, though. I am typically not for adding offices, but this is one split of an office that I think would be justified.
Hi Lawton. The office is also responsible for licensing and regulating the small loan industry.
btw, Jim Beck is still listed as commissioner on the office’s website. No mention of indictments or suspensions in his bio. Maybe they’ll catch up in a few weeks.

Beck will still be collecting that $120,000 paycheck until he’s found guilty, returns to office, there’s a special election, or his term expires. It’s a nice couple year boost to his state pension.
The REALLY need to spilt the Safety Fire department out of Insurance. That way they can have their own budget instead of being the extremely underfunded line item in the Insurance Commissioners office.
King is a man of impeccable integrity. It’s an office that was run by corrupt clown Oxendine for 16 years, then incompetent Hudgens for eight.
Beyond that it’s supposed to be a sop to Hispanics, you know, the people Kemp eyes when cruising around in his pick up truck..

A fake indignation. The only people taking advantage of foreign information in an effort to gather dirt on their opposition were Democrats. Hillary and Schiff. Where is the indignation in those real life, actual occurrences?
They will have no choice when the IG report comes out. We already know collusion and loads of bad actors. It is shocking how corrupt the FBI, DNC, Hillary, the Law Firm and the press are and were. They got caught.
Get rid of them so they can’t and won’t do this again. You would think Democrats and Republicans would both be happy to clean this crap up. Why aren’t they?

Pssst. The Obama Administration imposed a raft of sanctions against Russia which the Trump Administration was actively trying to undo before Trump even took office.
