Sammy Baker Announces for Senate District 45

Sammy Baker has announced his candidacy as a Republican for the Senate seat currently held by Sen. Renee Unterman in Senate District 45. Unterman formally announced her candidacy for Congress from GA-7 last week.

From a press release:

Local businessman Samuel “Sammy” Baker announced Wednesday that he will be a candidate for Georgia Senate District 45. District 45 will be an open seat in 2020 because incumbent Senator Renee Unterman is running for Congress.

“I’m running to make a difference for conservatives and for Gwinnett County. I’m a businessman who has built a company for nearly ten years right here in the county. As a businessman, I know how to balance budgets and meet a payroll. I am a fiscal hawk in my business and know how to stretch a dollar. I’ll bring that experience to the State Senate.”

“As our senator, I’ll work to bring positive reforms to both our county and to the legislature,” said Baker. “We need to change the way government works and make sure it’s working for all the people. As our next state senator, I’ll sponsor term limitations for both our legislators and for local officials.”
