Netflix:” We’d Rethink Our Entire Investment in Georgia” Over Abortion Law

Hollywood is now getting serious about creating fallout over Georgia’s new heartbeat bill.

While it’s going to take a long time to be settled in court (taxpayers are rejoicing over the millions of soon-to-be spent dollars) Netflix says it will continue to film and operate in Georgia.

However, in a statement to Variety, Netflix became the first production company to comment directly on the law and if it will impact future plans.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer said:

“We have many women working on productions in Georgia, whose rights, along with millions of others, will be severely restricted by this law. It’s why we will work with the ACLU and others to fight it in court. Given the legislation has not yet been implemented, we’ll continue to film there, while also supporting partners and artists who choose not to. Should it ever come into effect, we’d rethink our entire investment in Georgia.”

Netflix has continued its growth as a content behemoth and analysts forecast the company will spend $15 billion on content in 2019.
