Since I am comfortably poor here in the boondocks, I will enjoy this cold rain while sitting in front of my wood stove today.

I’ve wandered through a number of metro ATL synagogues, and worked at a few. Some will have an armed guard regularly during weekend activities and holidays with large volume. Some folks forget that some local synagogues are still on edge since the bombing of THE Temple in 1958.
And while I’m used to armed security, it is not a panacea, and may not even be an effective remedy. An ounce of prevention would be worth more than a pound of cure with this. As applied, that means stop the rhetoric and environment that inflames those who commit such acts. Maybe even set a civil cultural discourse.

I think we all have 2 basic responsibilities when it comes to hateful language and setting up a civil atmosphere.
1) Don’t use hateful language.
2) Call out others who use hateful language (even if you agree w the underlying political point).
None of the language may 100% “cause” nutjobs to act but all of it increases that probability.
For my part, I’ve been clear I never supported any call to act uncivilly, or use uncivil language. I even do my best to make sure my insults carry meaning and aren’t just an empty “Idiot!”

I don’t know if Trump is a racist or a white supremacist—-I’m a second chance/not everyone evolves at the same rate guy. Trump discriminating in renting to African Americans and not apologizing for advocating for the death penalty for the Central Park Five occurred decades ago.
