From Reuters: WASHINGTON (Reuters) – If Democrats win control of the U.S. House of Representatives or Senate next month, nearly every aspect of Donald Trump’s presidency could face swift examination – from his long-elusive tax returns to possible business ties with Russia and conflicts of interest, congressional sources say… While numerous probes have been expected if Democrats win a majority in the Nov. 6 elections, the sequencing and scope of their inquiries has only begun to emerge in recent talks among party leaders and prospective committee chairs. Leaders are clear about what’s not on the agenda: impeachment of Trump –… Read more »

Well I guess I cancelled out Armani’s vote. Have fun with this one. Is there one darn thing Armani is voting for that helps anyone create a job or make their life better? Anything about the economy or improving healthcare? Safer borders? Better national defense? Nope. Voting to look at Trump’s tax returns….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Really? Vote democrat if that is what you want. Go for it. That is all I have heard from democrats for 2 years. I hate Donald. I didn’t like Obama….BFD. Armani how is the strongest economy in decades looking to you? Is depression your mental state?! Good Lord. Noway is right….again!

Uh Dog, what president doubled the national debt amassed over 200 +years in this 8 year rein of fiscal thrift? And pitiful growth?

This is too easy.

The economy added more jobs in every year of Obama’s 2nd term than it did under Trump in 2017. Average monthly job growth under Obama was higher in every year of his 2nd term than under Trump. . Unemployment peaked at 10 percent in October 2009, the depth of the recession. It was down to 4.7 percent by the time Trump took office. . Real median wages have been increasing since 2014 and are basically where Obama left them. . Economic growth was already happening when Trump took office. Trump’s 4.2 percent 2Q growth in 2018 is nice, but Obama… Read more »

You seriously are going to bring up healthcare when the GOP is actively trying to remove preexisting condition requirements from insurance? The GOP’s answer to any healthcare issue is you need to pay all your medical expenses yourself, so what if you’re denied care because you can’t pay up front and buy some cheesy junk insurance.

Companies are announcing layoffs and we had to bail farmers out because of Trump’s poor economic decisions and you think we should vote for that? Yes, you can find a job but wages have declined. We’re supposed to vote for declining wages according to you?

You still haven’t defined what communism is and what parts of the Democratic Party’s platform constitute communism.

Saying “look at all these communists on the communist party’s website” doesn’t add anything to the conversation nor does it do anything to support your criticism of Democrats who are, again, in a separate political party. One difference is that at least Trump is good at what he does. 🙂

TheDeepDark
TheDeepDark

It’s more about the circus that the surrounded Trump, including the talk of sexual assault, tweets, etc. The average person in Cobb County has seen Trump’s ridiculous speeches and tweets as opposed to ever seeing a tweet that Kemp has sent, or even one of his speeches. That is the difference, and one that will affect an R voter going to Kemp vs Abrams, as opposed an R voter going to Clinton or a 3rd party instead.

I don’t know DD. Politics, even state politics, are increasingly nationalized. Trump is the Republican brand at this point, for better or worse.

I don’t know enough about why people vote the way they do. I do know, though, that if I get a bad piece of fish at a restaurant I often don’t go back to try the lasagna. Andrew C. Pope

To build on Duck’s point, Kemp’s sales pitch isn’t “vote for me because I’m a Republican.” Kemp is huggling Trump pretty closely. Side note: knowing Brian Kemp there isn’t a chance in heck he’d use his pick-up truck for anything other than driving over to Athens Country Club. . Here’s a chart of US oil imports from Saudi Arabia: https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=mttimussa2&f=m . In July, we imported 876 thousand barrels per day. In April 2003, the month the 2nd generation Prius debuted at the New York Auto Show, we imported 1,886 thousand barrels per day. Correlation doesn’t equal causation, but if you’re going to ask us to “thank … the private sector,” maybe we should thank those “Prius-driving liberals” who lowered the fuel demand in the US by switching to Priuses or the car companies who sought to appeal to “Prius-driving liberals” by developing their own electric/hybrid vehicles and improving fuel… Read more »

Your post just shows the problem with the way conservatives think. They are stuck in 1950 when it comes to energy solutions. There are a lot of things that we can do that do not depend on the middle east at all but relying on anything having to do with oil is going to enrich the middle east. You really should read up on energy markets and how they work. When something goes on the market you cannot make it stay in the US unless you nationalize the oil companies here.

What does ‘giving them a shot’ mean? Anyone who wants to can run. There are a lot of times The Party wishes people didn’t run but what are they supposed to do? The GOP probably felt that way last time around with, what, 12 candidates? Bernie is only a part-time Dem and that is still causing a lot of internal strife over here. Trump wasn’t a Republican until like 2016, but they ‘gave him a shot’ anyway. I’ll bet you are glad they did.

I haven’t read any stories about this caravan, I’ve only seen the headlines. But I am going to assume that at least most of them are refugees, probably a lot of women and children escaping war, drug cartels, gangs, paramilitary groups, rape, and poverty. So let’s hope ‘defending the country’ against these people doesn’t involve shooting or bombing children and their mothers.

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

Noway, I’ll level with you. The lowest point of Trump’s presidency to date was his Administration’s policy of separating children, toddlers, and infants from their parents and placing them in internment camps with no real plan for how to re-unite them. I’ll take that one, DTM. Obama created a new category of US resident, DACA, via his DHS, which he announced in the Rose Garden, June 2012. He usurped Congressional authority as set forth in the Constitutional separation of powers. Just because he eloquently stated why he wanted to do it did not make this a legal action. https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4681384/obama-states-daca-temporary-june-15-2012&start=232 (Interestingly, he stated it was a temporary program under his administration, did not have the force of law and had an expiration date. So, to summarize… A GOP controlled Congress would do nothing to address shortcomings in immigration policy, so Obama issued an executive order, essentially forcing this issue- either Congress acts or the judiciary acts. Either way, the issue gets addressed. As an executive order, it could be rescinded by another executive order, but Congress has still done nothing and the courts have yet to decide. . I am curious about the reasoning for opposing DACA. “Research has shown that DACA increased the wages and employment status of DACA-eligible immigrants, and improved the mental health outcomes for DACA participants and their children.… Read more »

I don’t think you’re grasping how the Senate works. . Passing something requires 60 votes. Absent a Democratic super-majority, there needed to be Republican support for any immigration legislation to get through the Senate. The Senate spent years trying to get immigration reform together, knowing full well the House wasn’t going to do anything of its own initiative. . In 2013, the Gang of Eight (Bennett, Durbin, Flake, Graham, McCain, Menendez, Rubio, Schumer) were able to create – and pass – an immigration bill 68-32. It’s hardly original thinking. It is just repeating whatever Trump says.

C’mon, Noway, You watched the rallies religiously, which is where he started saying all these things you say are your “original thoughts”. Either you’re experiencing dementia, or lying, or you don’t realize that the brain (even your brain) makes things called “memories” which can then be “recalled” but not totally, so that you might mis-attribute the source or whatever. This last option being pretty much an indicator of dementia as well.
One thing is for sure– you’ll never admit to being owned by Caroline– with just one link.

Noway2016
Noway2016

The original thought was ehat I propsed Trump was gonna do about it beginning next week! No one, including TGM himself—yet, has said those things—‘cept me. Watch for everything I said, as is with everything I’ve ever said here, to become fact!!!

bethebalance
bethebalance

You know, Noway, that you could have clarified that earlier instead of going back and forth on the thread which was about your allegations of things being “ginned up” and “fake”?
Or did you change mid-stream?
Bottom line- be clear, and there be yet room for healthy dialogue.

Noway2016
Noway2016

It was in my post. You could have read it closely. It was all there. I was very clear in what I believed will happen.

Noway2016
Noway2016

Here is is. From 16 hours ago. In all its splendor.
“Trump will call for a joint session of Congress and address the nation. He will propose a Joint Resolution and get every Member of Congress on the record on whether they support American Security or A Foreign Invasion. This will be done the week of Halloween. He will then demand a Continuing Resolution that funds every penny for the entire Wall. Midterms? Trump!”

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

Yeah, that’s not how it works at all.

Noway2016
Noway2016

All it takes is a member of both houses to introduce the same resolution. Then schedule that vote…

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

How they gonna do that when Congress is out of session through the Midterms?

Noway2016
Noway2016

This is too easy…Call for an Emergency Session…

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

That would entail pulling vulnerable House Republicans off the campaign trail in the middle of the final two-week push towards Election Day. It would be the dumbest possible thing Trump could do.

Noway2016
Noway2016

Nope. It would cause the base to literally swarm to the polls in support every Repub known to God!. The base would literally faint with delirium. They’d wake back up and be at the polls in record numbers never seen in a Midterm! Would no longer be vulnerable. Believe me!

Weren’t they hauling a– and risking their lives to get hell away from folks like liberals in this country? . People emigrated for a number of reasons. The Pilgrims who initially settled Massachusetts Bay colony were religious dissenters from the Church of England looking to escape religious persecution because they dissented from the state-established religious dogma. In 1630, the Puritans came, looking to escape persecution from Archbishop William Laud, who had been appointed by King Charles I to purge Puritan influences from the Church of England. We have two lawyers, Drew and Balance, presumably well educated and smart, who are advocating the deliberate violation of American security, borders and sovereignty by a growing Latin American Mob. Don’t forget Noway, our liberal friends will be glad to welcome them here and help them vote with no identification or proof of citizenship needed. Isnt that exactly the response we get? Having an ID to vote is racist! Or isn’t this just ballot box stuffing on proud display? Well if this was a mob of little green men from Mars I wouldn’t wan them voting either. Go to Wikipedia or something. You can say poverty and crime, but those things don’t appear overnight. There’s a history, including U.S. financial interactions. And No, they’re not all communist. Do you really care why they are leaving? I mean, you just don’t want them here, right?
And I think I can say that nobody really wants them here. But if you consider that they are refugees, we are in a better position to try to help them than most. Andrew THANK YOU SO MUCH for pointing out Germany didn’t have an electoral college …until AFTER HITLER. Do you mind telling that to some of your liberal friends? Seems like the left wants to get rid of the electoral college and prefers mob rule unlike our founders. You made my point again. Wasn’t Hitler pretty much an atheist and hated religion? Andrew C. Pope

I don’t think you had a point about the German electoral college. You were wrong and now you’re trying to save face. . Hitler wasn’t an atheist. In fact, he associated atheism with communism, Bolshevism, and “Jewish materialism.” As for “hating religion,” Hitler used Christianity as a mechanism for stoking fear of the spread of the Soviet Union. You really should do some research, broheim. . Lastly, I’m assuming you’re contending that English migration to the American Colonies was due to a desire for religious freedom.
