The dumb asses, including the resident Archie Bunker telling everyone but his cheerleaders to stifle, do not care what is, or is not an open thread. Also this appears to be the case with the management. Reasonably intelligent political discussion is dying here. And so it goes.

Noway2016

His stifle comment was in reference to Roe not being overturned. Learn how to read.

He has used the term abundantly on many threads, not just on the Perdue one. As to reading comprehension, he doesn’t even understand his own typed words even when they aren’t plagiarized. To some degree his attempt to silence other views has worked as many reasonable commenters from all political stripes no longer participate here. Even on Nathan’s post striking a conciliatory tone we get him showing up as the turd in the punch bowl with the typical: I agree, but it’s always theotherguy… they are the assholes… the price of rice in China today is 30 yuan… and it’s… Read more »

Who are these former reasonable posters who’ve been run off? And, honestly, which side has made their own cottage industry out of calling DTM and me racists and Nazis? Cmon, Will!

Dave Bearse

There are many that no longer or rarely comment—some no doubt continue to read—because of the embarrassment, even using a nom de plume, of being on the same side of issues as you and DTM, except not for disreputable reasons.

No one other than themselves ought to name them since it wouldn’t be constructive.

So our opinions are disreputable? Lol! Well, that’s one for the growing list that includes dregs and deplorables. Lord!!

Dave Bearse

Glorification of a dirtbagt and taking joy in damage to the country is indeed disreputable.

Those on the side lines take note of your standards and principles and their application. I’m sympathetic, as a gay that did little to advance gay rights, to those that value reputation more than character.

The Republicans will rue the day they pushed Kavanaugh’s confirmation thru. He does NOT have the temperament to be a sitting judge, much less a SCOTUS justice.

Noway2016
Noway2016

Because he strongly defended himself? That’s the temperment you’re talking about?

The left doesn’t like it that they have been caught lying and abusing power. They have gotten away with it for decades. The press has been outed as an arm of the DNC and anyone is welcome to diasagree. The Mueller investigation is more dishonest and rotten than the Supreme Court fiasco. So the tactics of the left have been exposed and sunlight is disinfecting it. I thought all liberals wanted things in the open and the truth to come out! Am I wrong on that? Who likes innocent until proeven guilty!? Did you see what Harvard Law school did…… Read more »

I’ve said it several times- he could have defended himself thoroughly without even a whiff of belligerence or contempt for Congresspersons- or partisanship. It was the contempt that was the worst though. If he was in a regular courtroom a Judge would have ended his contempt and made him answer questions in the beat of an eye. As Judge, Kav would probably do the same. I’ve also asked before- wondering if this hearing doesn’t change him– and make him more tolerant and empathetic of Defendants, maybe even be more supportive of womens’ rights, minority rights, and dare I say less… Read more »

So, his vigorously defending himself against charges he said never happened is belligerent? Hope you’re never accused of something awful. If you are, however, I hoe you just meekly take it.

bethebalance
bethebalance

He was aggressive against members of Congress, not to mention snide and disdainful and disrespectful when he didn’t even answer questions asked. As pointed out below, he admits he was having a temper tantrum.
He could have Easily defended himself- and passionately- without that passion being aggressive and disrespectful.
If you can’t tell the difference between respectful passion and disrespectful aggression, I would say– makes sense coming from you.

Dave Bearse
Dave Bearse

You’re much more an optimist than I. I think it very unlikely it has/will change him for the better. The takeaway is that lying and weak investigations pay off, and there’s joy in it.
.
An apology intended to help elevate himself to SCOTUS is meaningless.

BTB, suggest you read this mocking the Kavanaugh “apology”: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/opinions/wp/2018/10/05/i-am-an-independent-impartial-judge/?utm_term=.59c7820d861b . Just the opening, generously excerpted below: . “How to say this? . So last week I feel like we got off on the wrong foot a little bit. Like Justice John Paul Stevens, you may have seen the guy shouting about beer and “revenge on behalf of the Clintons” and thought, “Yeeeegh, I don’t love this. Can someone else be lifetime-appointed to the Supreme Court?” . I just want to say: That wasn’t me. I mean, technically, it was me, but in a broader, representational sense, it wasn’t. .… Read more »

The thing is he didn’t defend himself. What he and the white house did made him absolutely look guilty. You could very well imagine the face Dr. Ford saw that day and the anger. You could easily imagine him doing what Dr. Blake said. He acted on that day the exact way Dr. Ford said he did. He made her more credible not less.

You have to at least give me credit fot not dropping my signature phrase.

Regardless, here’s what’s gonna hapen in the next month. Democrats, all Dems, for any and every office from federal, state and local will be asked if they supported the Dem tactic of personal destruction and character assassination as it related to Kav. And fair minded voters of either party will vote accordingly.

But we may find out what happened at some point.

Revenge is a dish best served one Supreme Court decision at a time. Over, what? The next 30 years maybe? LOL! I can only hope that JUSTICE Kavanaugh will be as partisan as you brain dead leftists say he is. Now, JUSTICE Kavanaugh is more honest and decent than every leftest in this country combined. He has always been scrupulously fair. And I have no doubt he will continue to attempt to be. But he is also human. Plus, I can assure you that every day for the rest of his life, one Ashley Kavanaugh will remind him of of… Read more »

Really you should be aware of this because it is what conservatives are proposing for women: The Aunts are a class of women assigned to indoctrinate Handmaids with the beliefs of the new society and make them accept their fates. This is what gaslighting conservatives like yourself have been doing on this blog for quite a while now. Wives are a class of women in the Republic of Gilead. They are amongst the highest ranking women in the nation, though they are still oppressed and in subjugation to their husbands. However, it appears that the Wives (and the Aunts) have… Read more »

Pro tip: If you don’t want to worry about your son being accused of sexual assault, teach them about consent and respecting the sexual autonomy of women. Saying “I’m scared my son will be accused of sexual assault” is a pretty tacit admission that you did a shitty job of raising your kid.

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

Also, cry me a f:*$ing river. Let’s consider that the parents of girls not only have to deal with the fear their daughters will be sexually assaulted, but now they have to deal with creepy old perverts like Noway that either accuse them of lying or try to justify sexual assault with lines like “she probably wanted it” or “I heard she was into older men.”

Is it me or do most folks notice how many (not all) of the liberal males on this blog are extraordinarily mean, cruel and hateful and have no sense of humor? Does anyone here think these guys would be fun to have a beer with?

Guys are you the miserable schmucks that we see ransacking the Capital and making sure everyone else is as miserable as you are?

They seem to be perfectly happy destroying a guy with no evidence at all if it achieves their radical socialist agenda. Why is that?

I don’t know if you are referencing Clinton or not but she never called all conservatives deplorable. It was that Trump had a bunch of “deplorables” who support him which was, and is, absolutely true. You see the pieces of crap that prance around on this MB.

I’ll try to explain for you again, with extra empathy. I think not only most liberals, nut many conservatives believe Kav assaulted Ford. But like Sen. Collins, some say that it was about proof. Proof is different than belief. That’s why the argument abt proof is at least tolerable, because even though you’re ignoring your obvious belief, you’re following a standard of evidence. But you can choose to believe what you want. Each individual can. Not sure why anyone would disbelieve Ford– every single piece of circumstantial evidence points to Kav being capable and engaged in doing those things– getting… Read more »

He’s being hailed a hero with those that matter to him, not paying any price. Thinking about lemonade isn’t consolation in enduring this lemon. In the long run, we’ll all be dead and our democracy may be no more. . And have you heard? McConnell, the guy that proudly proclaimed he was never more proud than when he looked Obama in the eye and told him he would never fill the Supreme Court vacancy, has changed nomination rules again. It was always about party, and everyone knew it. It was never about election years– as if McConnell was just so subservient to the will of all Americans. No, in 2016, it appeared he had at least a roughly 45% chance to get a Repub elected, and the vacancy could help those odds even more. Pure politics. But the Constitution is set up to require some cooperation between Senate and Pres. With McConnell’s raw partisanship, and not a whiff of bipartisanship, it is easy to see how Sup. Ct. vacancies can become a huge political prop to increase turnout. And… Read more »
