Georgia Delegation Remembers Sen. John McCain

Sen. John McCain has lost his battle with brain cancer at the age of 81. We will be sharing the statements from the Georgia delegation as they are received.

Former President Jimmy Carter (D): “John McCain was a man of honor, a true patriot in the best sense of the word. Americans will be forever grateful for his heroic military service and for his steadfast integrity as a member of the United States Senate. Rosalynn and I extend our sincere condolences to Senator McCain’s family and to the people of Arizona whom he represented so forthrightly for so many years.”

Gov. Nathan Deal (R): “I had the honor of serving in Congress with Sen. John McCain, where I witnessed firsthand his character and enduring patriotism. This American hero will be missed, but his lifetime of public service will long be remembered. Sandra and I send our deepest condolences to his family.”

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle (R): “God bless John McCain. A true American hero and selfless statesman who exemplified patriotism, honor, integrity, and service to others above all else. Nita and I are praying for Cindy and the entire McCain family.”

Rep. Drew Ferguson (R, GA-3): “Senator John McCain was a true American hero who devoted his life to serving his country. I join all Americans in praying for peace and comfort for his beloved wife Cindy, his family and his friends.”

Sen. David Perdue (R): “American patriot is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of John McCain. He dedicated his life to serving the country he loved so much and for that we will be eternally grateful. His wit, wisdom, and leadership will be missed in the United States Senate – especially on the Armed Services Committee. Bonnie and I send our heartfelt prayers to Cindy, their children, and the entire McCain family during this very difficult time.”
