We sharing generational news, Teri?
.
Apparently millennials are killing Hooters.
https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2018/08/20/hooters-is-an-institution-millennials-turn-their-backs-on-boobs/
.
According to Rush, eating overpriced, flavorless food so you can ogle women is a “rite of passage” and Hooters is an “institution.”

Noway2016
Noway2016

LOL! “Church Lady” Snivler!! Dana Carvey got nuthin’ on you! So, if you’re gonna be consistent, you gonna ban cheerleaders? The Swimsuit Issue? Gorgeous girls at car shows? I know…I know…how ’bout Marilyn’s white dress she wore over that street grate? Since you’re also into banning books…how ’bout censoring Helen of Troy from all historical texts?? Cleopatra!?!? As DTM says, “C’mon Little Buddy!!!!”

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

Hooters isn’t failing because millennials are anti-boobs. Hooters is failing because their food sucks. I could drive down Buford Highway and get three meals of better tasting food for the price of one trip to Hooters.
.
Plus, the generation that has Tinder and other dating apps doesn’t need to go to a subpar beer and wings place to leer at waitresses to get their sad kicks.

downthemiddle

Andrew I will invest in your new restaurant concept “Doo Dads”!

Millenials will flock to it. Offer free stuff, pay what you want, man buns and skinny jeans get in free. You can leer all of the male dancers! All bathrooms are transgender. This is cutting edge stuff.

I am wondering if Andrew is a real person or an AI version of the “woosification” of America…

Toodle doo! Have a nice day!

Hooters has always been terrible. No one with any real taste in chicken wings would consider it good food. Also, with the internet, there is less appeal in going to a crappy restaurant to see attractive women for a lot of young men. They can ogle in peace at home. To try and blame this on millennials or “liberalism” is asinine. Crappy businesses don’t survive. That’s the capitalism you all dream of. Enjoy.

Limbaugh is gross!! I would say he is yucky! He is as Yucky as Hooters and not nearly as nifty as Doo Dads. And he is hilarious and has the largest audience in radio history. Isnt that grand? Or maybe depressing if you are a lib! He knows the liberal mind and actions better than they do! Hope they come topple the monument in the Decatur Square. I have been outraged that it has been there so long…. I am voting for Stacy Abrams who wants to nuke Stone Mountain. I guess its okay as long as it doesn’t hurt the Hooters or the golf courses.

So, would it be better if only African-American students removed the statute? As if white Americans weren’t involved in putting them up in the first place? Plus, if only African Americans removed them, wouldn’t that just be used as bait and fodder for the actual white supremacists to further divide Americans and recruit new racists to their cause?

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

For what it’s worth, bethebalance, some moron Ben Shapiro listener claimed that protesters yelled at him for being white and chased him back to his dorm room, as if there wasn’t a whole bunch of white people there.
.
So it doesn’t matter who tore it down, DTM would still find a way to be butthurt about it.

Caroline
Caroline

So you think institutional racism is a good thing for the country? That’s what this is about not jobs or anyting else you are trying to deflect to. Long ago these all should have been taken down and put in a museum. They do not belong on the public square.

downthemiddle
downthemiddle

No one does Caroline. Why does your party perpetuate it and try to gin up votes every election while doing nothing for minority communities other than give them food stamps and attend a black church 3 weeks before an election?

bethebalance
bethebalance

This is what actual perpetuation of institutional racism is:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/08/20/fired-white-house-staffers-association-with-white-supremacists-confirms-big-concern-about-presidency/?noredirect=on

If you read the article, they are very careful to point out that they don’t have the transcript of what the speechwriter said, so don’t make unfounded accusations (Note: that is what actual professional journalism does). But it points out clearly: Folks in Trump-land are totes cool with working alongside of folks who are totes cool with white supremacists.
So, there is no “ginning up”. There is an overwhelming flow of circumstantial evidence that indicates Trumpies are totes cool with racists amongst themselves.

Caroline
Caroline

So in your world all black people are basically nothing but food stamp receipients and people too stupid to realize they are being played by their churches. And you wonder why black people don’t vote Republican?

Noway2016

“So you think institutional racism is a good thing for the country? ”
So, let’s just cut to the chase. Are you for taking down the Washington Monument? Jefferson Memorial? Because…wait for it…they owned slaveeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!! Renaming Washington State and Washington, DC? C’mon Carolina….where does this go or stop?

Enjoy the Silence
Enjoy the Silence

Yes, they were slave-owners, but was that their only accomplishment of note and were they also traitors against the USA?

Lee, Stonewall Jackson, etc. were all traitors. Confederate soldiers were traitors. The Confederate flag is the flag of a traitorous group of people. People who glorify these monuments and the Confederate flag are glorifying traitors. They are revering traitors.

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

The Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Monument weren’t erected during the Jim Crow era by organizations whose primary purpose was to perpetuate white supremacy. . The following is from Julian Carr’s 1913 speech dedicating the Silent Sam statute: . I trust I may be pardoned for one allusion, howbeit it is rather personal. Noway2016
Noway2016

Rather than hundred plus year old, lichen covered and decaying statues or a few people exorcising their right of free speech waving a banner, I like to see how people’s lives are improving, increased employment for all, especially for the black and Hispanic communities. People keeping more of the money they’ve worked for and earned. Tangible, measurable improvements. Not chasing ghosts.

jbgotcha
jbgotcha

We can have all of the above. Not mutually exclusive. People can work on more than one issue at a time. This is you engaging in the same”whataboutism” that you decry when refuted.

bethebalance
bethebalance

Also, they’re not decaying. They stand starkly in the center of communities that don’t want them there. And perpetuate a history that never deserved glorification.
Frankly, it wouldn’t be a big deal, and would be quite easy, for local communities to vote and remove them, or move them to a museum or whatever, EXCEPT FOR the folks who fight to keep glorifying the racist-stained history in the centers of public life. If those folks could care less about such old lichen-covered blocks of stone, then there would be no issue about removing them, now would there?

jbgotcha
jbgotcha

The “stars and bars” have become socially unacceptable. That’s different than someone not having the right to display it. You can fly it all you want, but there may be social consequences. You seem not to get that. In turn, if society at large deems burning a US flag unacceptable, then there will be social consequences for that act. Do you see the difference? There are a lot of things to be proud about in the South and none of it has to do with a confederate flag or General Robert E. Lee or Silent Sam.

Enjoy the Silence
Enjoy the Silence

You seem to miss the point with these monuments and the issue with Confederate flags being waved in town squares. By placing them on government property with government permission the government is condoning what they represent. By placing these monuments and flags on public property the government is saying: “We agree with what these items stand for.” What do they stand for? They stand for traitors and white-supremacy. This is the government saying they support those ideals. If a private party wants to do that on their private property. Have at it. I can think they are an idiot until… Read more »

Michael Cohen reaches a plea deal. Bad news for Trump and the National Enquirer.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/21/politics/michael-cohen-plea-deal-talks/index.html

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

Not really.
.
Bad news in the sense that he’s apparently copping to campaign finance law violation(s), which will make it harder for Trump to distance himself. But there’s nothing indicating that Cohen is cooperating with prosecutors.

Caroline
Caroline

Well, considering Trump was on tape doing one deal with Cohen I don’t think Trump is going to be able to pretend he did not know Cohen.

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

Trump was never going to be able to pretend he didn’t know Cohen, his personal attorney.
.
Sorry the legal tea leaves don’t have anything more incriminating or exciting.

Caroline
Caroline

Well, he’s got his followers convinced that Manafort was his campaign manager for like 2 days instead of 5 months.

Caroline
Caroline

Well, today has been a bad day for witches since the “witch hunt” today put Paul Manafort in jail for years and Michael Cohen in jail for 3 to 4 years. Kids, don’t forget Michael Cohen pled guilty to campaign finance fraud and he was the deputy finance director for the RNC.

Enjoy the Silence
Enjoy the Silence

And he did it at the direction of a candidate according to his plea.

I wonder what candidate?

bethebalance
bethebalance

Probably Bill Clinton.

Caroline
Caroline

LOL. I’m sure that is what the conservatives around here are going to say.

Caroline
Caroline

Apparently the candidate was Donald Trump.

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

So, just to collect it all in one place:
.
Donald Trump’s campaign manager was just convicted of
– 5 counts of tax fraud
– 1 count of hiding foreign bank accounts
– 2 counts of bank fraud
.
Donald Trump’s personal attorney just plead guilty to:
– 5 counts of tax fraud
– 1 count of bank fraud
– 2 counts of campaign finance violations which, according to Cohen’s in-court statement, occurred at the direction of Donald Trump
.
.
.
Noway, I’ve got to admit, I’ll be watching Trump’s rally tonight. Homeboy is probably s*****g bricks now that Cohen has implicated him in felony campaign finance violations.

Caroline
Caroline

And his campaign manager has yet another trial coming up next month in DC. That one includes witness tampering.

bethebalance
bethebalance

I bet that he throws out that he’ll pardon Manafort. Saying he did nothing wrong, he’s a good guy, and that he was treated unfairly. It’s the only way to support his self-interested narrative.
But what to do about Cohen?
Oh, if he does say anything about it, he’ll call Cohen a liar and other names.

Caroline
Caroline

I keep hearing this pardon bantered around yet I don’t see how it benefits even Trump other than the false narrative Trump has been promoting.

bethebalance
bethebalance

Yeah, he may actually just say he’s going to pardon Manafort— so that he can maintain the narrative, and to prevent Manafort from becoming a cooperating witness. But he will be deceiving Manafort because he will follow his lawyers’ advice and not actually pardon him, if it makes Manafort more available for questioning anyways. So, he’ll say one thing and do another, and string out Manafort on a false promise of a pardon.

Caroline
Caroline

I wonder if Manafort has even been offered anything since Rick Gates flipped. I would think Gates who knows the same things that Manafort knows and probably even more since he was on the Trump campaign the entire time.

Andrew C. Pope
Andrew C. Pope

Manafort is staring at the very real possibility of dying in prison. Even with a 10 year sentence, he’s looking at a minimum of 8.5 years inside as a result of federal sentencing rules. That’s before any convictions in the separate DC case or any convictions on the re-trial of the 10 remaining counts in Virginia.
.
If Trump isn’t thinking of pardoning Manafort, he should. Because at this point Manafort has no attractive alternatives other than to cooperate and in exchange for sentencing relief.

bethebalance
bethebalance

I also sense that the “witch hunt” charge begins to fall flat amongst a chunk of supporters. Maybe 5%, maybe up to 10% will begin to start to disbelieve that it’s all actually only a witch hunt. I assume some folks are going to do some polling beginning tomorrow, and I’m curious to see the extent of any hit to the approval rating.

It may be a slow downward roll, so hard to tell. But even Nixon’s rock bottom- at the time- was roughly 50% of Republicans. So it’s about how many Repubs have undying faith versus the “nose-holder” Republicans?

Andrew C. Pope

I agree with Elynn. The faithful are with him no matter what.

Dude could reveal that he was secretly born in Kenya. His floor would still be 30%. He could pull off a mask and reveal he was secretly Hillary Clinton this whole time. His floor would still be 30%. He could get caught on camera riding Vladimir Putin bareback while being urinated on by underage hookers and the worst thing that would happen is that Paul Ryan would have to pretend he didn’t see the video.

I love it! “Word salad” and listening to this drivel! I must admit, I started laughing at the AWE NAWW! IT was funny. I am glad to see a lib with a sense of humor instead of sniveling, whining, toppling statues, calling folks names like a bunch of blubbering clowns did earlier in the day!! Well, that is par for the liberal golf course and I was 2 under this evening and the last thing on my mind was the goobers on this blog! Now focus my miserable, hate America liberal buddies…. Trump. What kind of name is “conservitard”? That is just limp. How in the hell are you going to insult someone like NOWAY calling him that? It is Clunky don’t you think? Now Obama had Cash for Clunkers! Now that was good name—for a worthless piece of crap proposal but at least it had a little style! If you are trying to be funny or more biting, think a term like the fragile little “snowflake”. On the surface a beautiful thing, but in reality it is a pretty biting and a totally appropriate name. It just hits it out of the… Read more »

It’s been determined there are at least two witches that were directly and closely connected to Trump, three counting Gates. Witch hunt tweets are invitation to ridicule by anyone not in the cult. Likewise the convictions will make a laughingstock of supporter’s continuing to call to hurry to a conclusion. That means you, Giuliani, and assorted members of Congress. This will drive the news cycle at least through this weekend unless Trump comes up with something else. Wonder what’s in the arsenal other than other security clearance revocations. . Omarosa for her part released under tape, this one video, of Cohen boarding a Trump campaign flight in September 2016. Remember Trump had said Cohen had nothing to do with his campaign?

I guess you never paid attention to job growth in the past. Obama’s last 18 months had better job growth than Trump’s first 18 months.
