So if he is dumb, then… May 24, 2018 11:28 AM Log in to Reply Andrew C. Pope Hey folks, ACP here. Gonna brush off my former DOJ hat and provide a little insight for everyone here that isn’t Noway. The Special Counsel’s office requested a continuance pursuant to 18 USC 3161(h)(7)(B), which allows a judge to grant a continuance for complex cases that would make it “unreasonable to expect adequate preparation for pretrial proceedings or for the trial itself within the time limits established by [the speedy trial law].” Concord Management, the plaintiff in this action, consented to a 90-day continuance of the time period. This isn’t a delay tactic. This isn’t evidence the special counsel is running scared. Both parties agreed to the continuance. This is a recognition that the issues presented and the sheer amount of discovery involved make preparing for trial in 70 days an impossibility. As usual, Noway is simply repeating what he hears on Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity to troll folks on this message board who would prefer that this site traffic in mature and level-headed discussion. As much as I’ve enjoyed donating over $700 to Planned Parenthood in his honor, I’m thinking it’d be best if we ignored him like the screaming toddler he is. May 24, 2018 4:07 PM Log in to Reply Will Durant Yes by all means lets contrast the two: … So he headed to law school with the goal of serving his country as a prosecutor. He went on to hold high positions in five presidential administrations. He led the Criminal Division of the Justice Department, overseeing the US investigation of the Lockerbie bombing and the federal prosecution of the Gambino crime family boss John Gotti. He became director of the FBI one week before September 11, 2001, and stayed on to become the bureau’s longest-serving director since J. Edgar Hoover. And yet, throughout his five-decade career, that year of combat experience with the Marines has loomed large in Mueller’s mind. “I’m most proud the Marines Corps deemed me worthy of leading other Marines”… vs Despite having been educated at an elite private military academy, Donald Trump famously drew five draft deferments, including one for bone spurs in his feet. He would later joke, repeatedly, that his success at avoiding sexually transmitted diseases while dating numerous women in the 1980s was “my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.” https://www.wired.com/story/robert-mueller-vietnam/ President Trump announced a few weeks ago when it was explained to him that he could be seen as obstructing justice if he continued down the path of firing FBI Directors and the like. So he announced possibly on Fox and Friends? that he was going for character assassination instead. It only goes to Noway’s gullibility that he parrots this BS. May 25, 2018 6:53 AM Log in to Reply Noway2016 You’re talking about abortion, right? May 25, 2018 6:59 AM Log in to Reply Indypendant Sure, we can back and forth all day. Abortion rates rise when you cut access to birth control. Your move. May 25, 2018 7:26 AM Andrew C. Pope No, we’re talking about gun violence and how easy access to firearms has contributed to the teen suicide rate. You’ve seen fit to gleefully post about would-be ne’er-do-wells getting shot with zero regard for the fact that a lot of the “maggots” you’ve posted about appear to be individuals suffering from mental illness or opioid dependency. I’ve elected to counter-program your posts with the unfortunate side-effects of America’s gun culture: Easy access to firearms has contributed significantly to the suicide rate, especially among teenagers. So, when you’re happily gloating about someone with schizophrenia or a black kid with a bag of Skittles getting shot in the chest, I would hope that somewhere in your shriveled raisin of a soul, you’d think about the thousands upon thousands of teenagers in this country who can go down to the gun store or into their parents’ closet and find an easy means for taking their own life. Change the topic to abortion if you want. But I know you’re only doing it because you’re uncomfortable with the idea of having a conversation that requires you to perform a modicum of introspection. May 25, 2018 9:19 AM Noway2016 You both are talking about accidents. Let’s ban pools! They “kill” kids, too! And don’t forget cars!! They’re next on the “ban” list! And Sniv, I’ll highlight this: “black kid with a bag of Skittles.” How ’bout you let that black baby be born? How’s that for the need for introspection, huh? May 25, 2018 9:41 AM Log in to Reply Noway2016 And how ’bout this: “Easy access to firearms has contributed significantly…” to allowing Real Americans the ability to defend themselves and others!” “Nuff said. You and your Ninnie Buddies should really just be quiet. As usual, y’all offer absolutely nothing of value. May 25, 2018 9:44 AM Andrew C. Pope You both are talking about accidents Suicides aren’t “accidents.” Suicides also make up the majority of gun deaths in the United States and vastly outnumber the folks shot by “Real Americans” defending themselves or others. School shootings aren’t “accidents,” either and your treatment of them as such only serves to further highlight just how un-critical a thinker you truly are. May 25, 2018 10:05 AM Benevolus Interesting: “Oklahoma City police Friday morning identified the two armed citizens who shot and killed the shooter as 35-year-old Juan Carlos Nazario and 39-year-old Bryan Wittle.” Fortunate that that didn’t get out of hand. May 25, 2018 1:31 PM Log in to Reply Benevolus Well, there is that, but also the danger that if more people carry and feel compelled to intervene, it is easy to imagine scenarios where multiple people whip out weapons and start shooting. In cases where it is not as easy to identify “the bad guy(s)” as it apparently was in this case, that could make things worse. Like if it was in a mall for example. Or even a school. I don’t really want to be too hard on that school resource officer who didn’t enter the school because he didn’t know how many were in there, or where they were. Even the SWAT team doesn’t just bust in without protection and/or intelligence. I’m just sayin’; this is probably a good result (as far as we know right now), but that doesn’t mean it is the solution for most other cases. Nazario was a security guard, so he likely had some training. Haven’t seen anything about the other guy yet. But in Oklahoma you do have to have a permit to carry which requires training and a background check. So that is some sensible regulation that goes a long way to ensuring that those who carry aren’t freaks. May 25, 2018 2:11 PM Log in to Reply Noway2016 Let’s see: “if”, “could”, “probably”. Hmmmmm…you could speculate all day on posssssssible scenarios. You’re probably swearing out loud at the correct outcome in this case. Too bad. Swiss cheese, anyone? May 25, 2018 2:19 PM Log in to Reply Benevolus Well only a dumbass would jump to definite conclusions before we have more info on this. But I do think it is likely a good example of results we can expect with reasonable regulation, at least regarding the Puerto Rican guy. Not sure what the other guys’ story is yet. May 25, 2018 2:34 PM Benevolus OK so yeah, just some more information on this. The one guy was a security guard and an ex-cop. The other guy was ex-military and National Guard. So if you are going to have a “good guy with a gun”, these are the guys you want, not necessarily the moron who wants to wear his AK-47 slung across his back while shopping at Wal Mart or dining at Cracker Barrel, or the guy who keeps a gun in his glove compartment because he’s boinking someone else’s wife and feels a little paranoid but has only ever shot it twice and the last time was seven years ago. Furthermore, apparently these guys did not come across each other while looking for the bad guy, which one of them admits would have been probably confusing. And the one guy reportedly didn’t even see the original shooting, just heard it. So he was relying on other witnesses to point him to the perp. Then there is the NRA and the governor. There was recently a bill there -which the Gov vetoed- that would have allowed citizens to carry without a permit. The NRA thinks that bill would have made things better. The Gov (Republican) disagreed. May 26, 2018 7:01 PM Noway2016 Hadn’t seen such an exhaustive list of the supposed molesters in one place. Et tu, Sulu?!
