Campaign life fries your brain. At least 8 are dead in a Santa Fe school shooting. Because campaign disclosures are interesting, I don’t care who you are. Well, if this isn’t the sweetest thing I have read all morning. In the world of totally bizarre news... I was going to do a GeorgiaPol buy in for the Power Ball, but these folks say no bueno. Don’t throw away any old rusty boxes you find in the back yard. Prayers for the Big Island and the victims of the volcano. The White House is making bold moves in federal funding for abortion. Pope Note, the GOP isn’t targeting abortion providers, they’re blocking Title X funds for any healthcare provider if they even speak with their patients about abortion. Think about that for a second, the party of “limited government” is trying to restrict what healthcare providers can and can’t say to their patients. May 18, 2018 12:28 PM Log in to Reply Indypendant Somethings going to leak this afternoon, they tell me, that perhaps Trump paid a woman to have an abortion during the campaign. I don’t know. But hey, the end justifies the means. May 18, 2018 12:42 PM Log in to Reply Noway2016 Meaning a woman he might have been having sex with before his 2016 run? May 18, 2018 12:43 PM Log in to Reply Indypendant I don’t know, they tell me during the campaign. First trimester abortion or something like that. Not sure, something about payments made by Trumps lawyer. Personally, I’m opposed to abortion, but it should be left up to the individual to make that decision. May 18, 2018 4:59 PM Noway2016 Common sense like getting rid of gun-free zones that makes a crazy fu-k feel comfortable enough to do stuff like this knowing he’s the only one armed on campus? That common sense change in policy? Otherwise, no more restrictions of any kind. If the local jewelry store can have an armed guard, then so can every school in America. Every one. A federal agency can legally enter your property without consent or a warrant (though not your “dwelling”). They can and do setup checkpoints demanding identification, authorized to pull you over without cause, and even legally allowed to racially profile in these stops. Which agency? Why the Customs and Border Protection Bureau of course. Granted, most of this occurs within 100 miles of the Mexican border but with this article I was shocked to find that 65% of our population is susceptible to having their civil rights ignored by decrees in place since 1953. https://www.citylab.com/equity/2018/05/who-lives-in-border-patrols-100-mile-zone-probably-you-mapped/558275/ May 20, 2018 7:51 AM Log in to Reply Will Durant Not a “right” of course, but when did we lose the privilege of editing our own comments. May 21, 2018 9:27 AM Log in to Reply Andrew C. Pope Noway, I’m going to waive around my Justice Department credentials for just a second. I would hope you’ll give my response a little more credence than whoever that random Gateway Pundit blogger is. The use of informants in counter-intelligence investigations is completely normal and completely legal. Moreover, the mere fact that someone was offering information on the campaign to the FBI, CIA, or any other intelligence agency does not, in and of itself, mean that the informant was “planted” in the campaign. Two things should be particularly concerning. For Trump and his Administration – if informants are passing along information to the government, you’re probably doing something illegal. For the American people – if we’re going to start outing confidential informants for political purposes what guarantees to US assets have that the government will protect their identities? This sets an incredibly dangerous precedent and can undermine our ability to gather intelligence and conduct important counter-intelligence investigations in the future. Pope Counterpoint: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/feb/23/dana-loesch-women-gun-reform-rapists Women are much more likely to be fatally hurt by a gun than saved by one. Women who live in abusive situations are considered at grave risk when a gun is in the home – no matter who owns it – and women killed by their partners are more likely to be murdered with a gun than all other weapons combined. (Loesch and the NRA know this, of course, yet have lobbied for years against measures that would keep guns out of abusers’ hands.) This is especially important considering that the vast majority of sexual assaults aren’t committed by strangers lurking in bushes, but by acquaintances, friends, and even loved ones. I’m all for women living their lives as they see fit, but let’s not act like shilling on behalf of an organization that helps keep guns in the hands of domestic abusers is within the definition of “feminism.” May 22, 2018 7:13 AM Log in to Reply Noway2016 Keep up That Narrative!
