Final Qualification: Statewide
Qualifying has drawn to a close in Georgia for the 2018 election cycle. All of the statewide positions will have races in November. Incumbents Chuck Eaton (PSC, District 3), Gary Black (Agricultural Commissioner), and Chris Carr (Attorney General) will not face any primary challengers, but the rest of the incumbents have drawn opposition from within their own party. We are guaranteed to have a new Governor, Lt. Governor, Insurance Commissioner, and Secretary of State in January, 2019.
Nine people qualified to run for Governor: 7 Republicans and 2 Democrats. Eddie Hayes (Restaurant owner), Marc Urbach (Author), and Michael Williams (CPA) all qualified today on the GOP side. The Democrats will be represented by a Stacey in November.

List of endorsements by Georgians, state leaders expands to more than 500 people and counting
ATLANTA – Georgia’s Attorney General Chris Carr today announced that his statewide grassroots leadership team is now organized in each of Georgia’s 159 counties and has grown to more than 500 people. A full list of Carr’s statewide grassroots leadership team can be found here.
Today’s announcement is one in a series of endorsements including his statewide grassroots leadership team announced less than a week ago. Carr qualified for the 2018 election on Monday, March 5.
Carr’s statewide grassroots leadership team includes farmers, educators, small business owners, sheriffs, attorneys, mayors and county commissioners, among others.
“As our campaign’s message has spread, the response has been tremendous with more and more Georgians joining our team every day,” said Attorney General Carr. “We are excited and determined to win in November and are committed to working together to protect all Georgians and ensure our great state’s continued success.”
Carr’s campaign previously announced endorsements from Georgia Congressional leaders and the majority of the General Assembly, as well as his statewide grassroots leadership team.
Since taking office, Carr has been named to several committees with the National Association of Attorneys General, including the Substance Abuse Committee, Human Trafficking Committee and Presidential Initiative Advisory Committee on Elder Abuse.
Carr also serves on the Republican Attorneys General Association’s Executive Committee.
In Georgia, Carr created the Statewide Opioid Task Force, and he serves on Governor Deal’s Older Adults Cabinet and Judicial Nominating Commission. He also serves on the Board of Advisors to the Atlanta Chapter of the Federalist Society of Law and Public Policy Studies.
