That Cristo rey story appears to be behind a pay wall. Here’s another story that might be more accessible:
http://www.atlantamagazine.com/news-culture-articles/cristo-rey-atlanta-jesuit-high-school-gets-a-new-lease-on-life-and-a-new-building/
My employer is one of the companies in the work study program. I see CR students around here quite often.
A real possibility for guys on my side is that we have been hyperventilating and envisioning the memo to be like, maybe, Stana Katic! (Beckett on Castle…) But… what if… we pull back that veil and see…Mama June!!!!! Oh, man!!!
When the burqa lifts …. it’s going to be Hillary’s face that you’ll see ….. Enjoy that visual.
Impeach Hillary!
It’s going to Cater Page, and a renewal of an existing FISA warrant Page has been an unknowing tool of a actually tried and convicted intelligence agent before.

If Congresspersons think there is some sort of malfeasance at the FBI or DOJ, isn’t there a procedure to deal with that? Releasing a half-baked “memo” doesn’t feel like a rigorous, thorough, professional, or even cursory attempt to actually fix anything.
“Rigorous, thorough, professional, or even cursory attempt to actually fix anything” are anathema to special interests, and protecting or enhancing political power.”
For Republicans, Justice is just another Washington Department, not a way of life.
The DoJ Inspector General has been on this for a while. That is the appropo procedure. The memo is going to be an advocacy piece. Even if there is a kernel or more of substance to it, the procedure is all inappropriate- and potentially very dangerous. So ethics and the rule of law take a back seat to partisanship in this administration- we get it already. And I think 70% of Americans will get that too, and hold it against Republicans and DJT.
I want to know why the House Intelligence Committee is handling FBI and DOJ issues instead of the House Judiciary Committee . You would think Steve King, Gohmert, Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz (who are all on the JC) would be screaming that IC is stamping all over their JC turf. Unless of course, the Republicans are just releasing the memo so they can have the public face to justify have a full out special DOJ, FBI hearing they get to control…
I just got a nice raise thanks to DJT and the new tax law. Thank You.
“At our expense”, your children and grandchildren.
You might have gotten one sooner if the House had not shelved the proposed corporate tax cuts from the President in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
Something you already suspected if you didn’t already know it…..”The Power Behind the Throne Is ‘Fox & Friends’ With Bannon out of favor, is Fox morning-show host Steve Doocy now Trump’s top adviser?”
https://www.thenation.com/article/the-power-behind-the-throne-is-fox-friends/
“The hosts—Brian Kilmeade, Steve Doocy, and Ainsley Earhardt—are, to put it mildly, not quite the McLaughlin Group. Doocy exists in a state of permanent, total exasperation. Think of Chandler on Friends at his most overwrought, and that is Steve Doocy, always. Kilmeade’s schtick is a jockish “regular Joe” who just doesn’t understand and makes constant appeals to “common sense.” His résumé includes a stint in the early 1990s as a commentator for the UFC, back when UFC matches could be held only in certain jurisdictions and resembled human cockfights. Earhardt knows not to talk when the men are talking. Her role is to be the homecoming queen who married the quarterback (both literally true in her case), but doesn’t let that stop her from feeling marginalized, victimized, and, unceasingly, vituperatively angry.”
That story in turns includes many links to supporting sources / opinions. A link within was “I’ve Studied the Trump-Fox Feedback Loop for Months. It’s Crazier Than You Think” https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/01/05/trump-media-feedback-loop-216248
“Here’s what’s also shocking: A man with unparalleled access to the world’s most powerful information-gathering machine, with an intelligence budget estimated at $73 billion last year, prefers to rely on conservative cable news hosts to understand current events.”
Before the crazy starts, a quick primer on the staff that wrote the memo…

Fisa memo based on dossier. Without dossier no fisa says mcabe.
As of right now, (1215) looks bad for Dems…
Judge not told of political origins of dossier in its use in obtaining fisa
No snark. I swear. What are ur thoughrs on mcabes remarks that without dossier , no fisa warranr?
Without snark,
What was the context of the question and is that the whole answer from his rely? The memo does not include a direct quote, just a summary.
The only thing that looks interesting to me is that McCabe supposedly said no FISA without the Steele dossier. That was closed-door testimony I think? Would like to see that exact exchange transcript.
The rest of that stuff is bogus. The alleged political leanings of people involved aren’t really relevant. Either there is enough evidence for the warrant or there isn’t.
You know, with the move to Cobb County and them being as bad as they are, there may not be a better time for The Braves to re-brand completely. Maybe they could start some new trend in MLB branding. If they hit a homerun with it, they could have a lot to gain.
It’s similar to what Coke is doing with the Freestyle machine. A generational bet. Sure the old timers know the Classic and Diet Coke don’t taste right, but the next generation will buy every five flavor mix drink trash they put out.
As long as they don’t have an offensive image of beer-belly suburbanite as their logo, Ingiess it could work.
‘a pastel colored polo shirt’ that is not pink.
My prediction. The “memo” is a huge nothingburger. Partisans will run around like their hair is on fire (something new and different), and the rest of the people will just shrug and move on. The only thing that changes is that Nunes looks a little bit more like a moron lap dog. He drastically over sold this.
Also in other business…bravo Ginny! There were some actually interesting nonpartisan reads there. My Amazon source still is telegraphing Northern VA, but I dont think they really know any more than us. On paper, Atlanta looks pretty competitive.
Call me a bit of a cynic, but The Tea Party Patriots just dropped an ad calling “for Rod Rosenstein to do his job, or resign” just as a memo (released first to Fox News before being released by the White House) that in the White House Cover letter states “reflects the judgment of it’s congressional authors” – admitted GOP staffers who do research on their own with out official congressional direction with little or no context referenced. – shows DAG Rosenstein has signed off on a FISA renewal of Page (which would have been in 2017).
Unless the memo is flat out lying about what McCabe said, this should concern everyone. Basing a FISA warrant on that garbage DNC funded dossier is basically concluding that 4th amendment rights are dependent on one’s political leanings.
What was the context of the question and is that the whole answer from McCabe’s reply? The memo does not include a direct quote, just a summary.
RINOs.
No. The real, and only question, is if Andrew McCabe actually said “ no dossier, no FISA warrant”. If he did not say that, the memo is lying. If he did say that, it is game, set, match.
What was the context of the committee question and is that the whole answer from McCabe’s reply? The memo does not include a direct quote, just a summary.
So without further evidence, we have this choice: Believe in the integrity of multiple and various persons in the judicial, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies, or believe….. Devin Nunes.
The real underlying question is whether the Steele dossier- given the level of corroboration- was, along with any other evidence, sufficient for a finding of PC. We can not know any of that from the memo.
I wonder if the memo controversy now inspires someone to leak the Steele dossier.
It was released by Buzz Feed in January 2017
So was there a FISA warrant issued against Papadopoulos ? If not, why not if he was a significant player?
You’ve got to think there was/is a FISC warrant for Papadopolous. This whole thing started because a drunk Papadopolous told an Australian diplomat in London that Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton. The Australians eventually told US agencies about that claim.
‘FISC’ stands for “Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court”, so these events seem tailor made for what that court is set up to do.
Also of note the last FISA renewal was issued under DAG Rosenstein, which the FISA court would have known about the ‘media coverage’ of the dossier by then. Why did they still renew it?

“Elite economists have a message for cities bidding for Amazon’s next headquarters: Enough is enough. More than 600 influential economists, urbanists, writers, and academics have signed an online petition urging cities to curb tax breaks and other incentives they’re offering to land HQ2, Amazon’s much-anticipated second North American headquarters. The online petition, posted Jan. 30, calls for local leaders to sign a “mutual non-aggression pact” against “egregious tax giveaways and direct monetary incentives for the Amazon headquarters.” It’s signed by big names including Robert Putnam, the Harvard political scientist, and Alan Krueger, Barack Obama’s former chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.”
