GA Senate Unanimously Passes Resolution Condemning NFL Over Vet Ad Rejection
The Georgia Senate has unanimously adopted Senate Resolution 673 that was introduced by Sen. David Shafer (R, 48) yesterday. The resolution “denounces the National Football League (NFL) for its censorship of a Super Bowl ad by the veterans organization AMVETS” and “for its hypocritical actions to silence the AMVETS National Service Foundation and suppress its message that Americans should respectfully stand for the Flag and National Anthem of the United States of America.” The NFL deemed that the ad was too political and could not be aired.
Sen. Shafer:
“I was skeptical when NFL officials tried to justify the organized disrespect for our flag by citing free speech. But their shabby treatment of AMVETS exposes the hypocrisy of that excuse. When America’s veterans try to exercise their free speech, the NFL has no problem telling them to sit down and shut up.”
Greg Bluestein of the AJC sent out a tweet that shows that Sen. Minority Leader Steve Henson is not pleased with how the resolution was passed:

lol.
I have much distain for the NFL however doesn’t the state senate have more important things to do like maybe actually govern?
BTW maybe if that baker had posted offensive signs against the LBGT community in his store rather than refuse to bake a cake he would still be in business since it’s OK for private organizations to control all speech within their organizations.
