103 Former and Current Georgia Sheriffs Endorse Cagle

A press release from the Cagle campaign states that 103 former and current Georgia sheriffs have lined up to endorse Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle’s bid for Georgia Governor. Sheriffs tend to carry a lot of political clout in most Georgia counties, especially those in the smaller and/or more rural areas outside of metro Atlanta.

From the press release:

“Casey is the strong leader that I know we need as governor of our state,” said Floyd County Sheriff Tim Burkhalter. “He has always led for our law enforcement community, and I am excited to see that more than 100 other sheriffs are supporting his campaign. He is certainly Floyd County’s guy.”

“You simply don’t receive such widespread support without being a proven leader,” said Columbia County Sheriff Clay Whittle. “Casey’s unwavering commitment to the law enforcement community is most impressive. In fact, his first stop as a candidate for governor was a visit with our law enforcement officers.”

“Casey is our go-to guy,” said Gwinnett County Sheriff Butch Conway. “He is a proven leader that always delivers for the law enforcement community. He has also led to protect Georgians by eliminating sanctuary cities in our state, and I fully support Casey Cagle’s candidacy for governor.”

“I am confident that Casey Cagle is the person we need as our next governor,” said retired Sheriff Steve Cronic. “During my 12 years as Hall County’s sheriff, Casey was always accessible and he always led for the law enforcement community. He is a bold, conservative leader that every Sheriff – and every law enforcement officer – should be supporting.”

“Having such widespread support among this group of respected law enforcement leaders is extremely humbling,” said Cagle. “This is a group of selfless public servants, and we are all indebted to the services of the brave men and women who wear the badge and risk their lives for our safety. As governor, I will continue to back the badge at every turn.”
