Talk is that Georgia will be doing its part to MAGA by paying productive people six figures to live in what is almost wholly Trump country. We’re all for the free markets, except when we aren’t.
More Lib sleaze…

Trump tweeted Christmas Day that he would be “getting back to work” the next day.
Remember when Trump while campaigning said: “I have the greatest stuff and you know what? I love golf. But if I were in the White House, I don’t think I’d ever see Turnberry again. I don’t think I’d ever see Doral again. I own Doral in Miami. I don’t think I’d ever see many of the places I have. I don’t think I’d ever see anything, I just want to stay in the White House and work my ass off and make great deals, right? Who’s gonna leave?”
Fat cat kelptcarat Trump got back to work accompanied by our own hard-working Senator David Perdue by playing his 87th round of golf of the year the day after Christmas at one of his own properties, as filmed by CNN: http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/366529-cnn-cameras-capture-video-of-trump-golfing-in-florida
Modest that Trump is about his being filmed working his ass off making great deals, Trump had a box truck accompany him during his 88th round of golf Wednesday to block the fake news media from filming him working on the links: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/mysterious-truck-blocks-cnns-view-of-trumps-golf-course-in-florida/article/2644481
MAGA, one round at a time.
But which bathroom will it use?!

It’s a shark… who’s going to tell it what it can or can not do?
But what if it identifies as a dolphin one day?
Right now as I post this, I have been waiting with a cousin in front of the finical office at the dementia center of a nursing home. Her mother’s care cost around $36,000 a year (including medical insurance payments), which is covered by a combination of Medicare, the insurance and out of pocket costs drawn from the retirement accounts. The private insurance has been fully paid, and all of her drugs that can be filled have been ordered with assurances it will be billed before the end of the year. The center is encouraging anyone who can to pre-pay for costs up to six months they cantake under state law. We are waiting to see what we need to write the check for, and what it will cover. Based on what is known by the tax accountant, her taxes are expected to raise for 2018, since she averages over $29,000 in medical related itemized expenses and she will only have state and local income taxes from SSI and selling off her mutual funds to pay for her care left to itemize. In 2016, taxable income after deductions and her personal exemption was under $28,000. In 2018, her taxable income level is expected to be around $41,000. She will have an extra $10,000 taxed at the new 12% and roughly $3000 that will be taxed at 22%.
Based on the 2 people in front and 3 behind us in line, I can not see how this is a rare occurrence. To quote the man behind me, the more the government takes what is left of my brother’s money, the faster he goes onto the Medicaid roll”.
Ellynn, maybe I am missing something but isnt nursing home care covered in part my MEDICAID, and not MEDICARE? I think that the former kicks in after private insurance is exhausted which might not be the case for you.
It also goes to show that its not just blue states that are getting screwed by the new tax law.
The care center is completely out of pocket. She maxed out her long term health care policy over 3 years ago. The medical cost she has that are not part of a ‘nursing home’ are covered by Medicare. Her insurance picks up other costs, like prescriptions transportation, and dental care. Once her retirement is gone, She becomes fully covered by Medicare and Medicaid unless her kids pick up the tab for her care, which frankly they can’t afford without hurting their own retirement or savings. She is physically very healthy with only some minor balance issues -for her safety they have her convinced she needs to be in a wheelchair. Last year, the financial guy looking over the retirement savings estimated she had 4 years before she was forced into Medicaid. She might be down to under 3 years now.
Ginny…
I say this with love.
You really need to broaden your reading list. Every one of your links vary from semi rabid right wing to full blown wingnut.
Get out of the bubble for a while…I promise you will be able to breathe just fine (might be a short bout of anxiety, but I promise it will pass)
We all need a little of Ginny’s rightwing mom-ism, and a little libertarian drum beating by Jessica, and a little of Terri’s social justice with a side of Hamilton staking, and Ed’s ITP crazy, and… whatever you call Will’s attempts to reshape the Grand Old Party to the millinalized Generation Awesome’s Party. Looking at views that are not like yours expands your view point… Broaden your reading list, get out of the bubble etc…
Just so I don’t have to read any more explanations why a billion dollar handle after two weeks is ‘disappointing’. Spoiler, it’s those darn Hollywood libs and their SJW ways.
Julian Assange is about as far from right wing as one can get. And yes it is a fascinating read. Thanks Ginny.
I try to read sources across the gamut and make up my own mind. Almost all journalists are biased no matter how much they tout their fairness and balance. I even check out Alex Jones sometimes and he plays right field in the far upper deck outside the foul pole. My current kick is comparing the Jerusalem Post, Haaretz (also Israeli), Islamic Republic News Agency (Iran), the Saudi Press Agency, and sometimes Al Jazeera on the same stories.
Any negative criticism of The Last Jedi is deserved regardless of the political slant. Disney was even able to get an 86 out of 100 Metacritic rating from the pros. I’m with the ticket buyers on that same site that are giving it 47 out of 100.
I gave up on Star Wars back when ewoks still walked the land so I don’t have an opinion on TLJ, but I get very tired of people who judge the worth of a performance or work of art or popular entertainment based on how closely it hews to their political ideology, especially when to do so means ignoring what’s otherwise their #1 totem, the marketplace. For them the market is king, unless it’s not.
Happy New Year.
No, really, this actually happened! LMAO!!

From The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/dec/28/donald-trump-white-america-republican-party?CMP=share_btn_tw
‘Trumpism’ is ingrained in white America. When he goes, it will remain
“However, for years surveys have shown that strong authoritarian, nativist and populist positions command pluralities, if not majorities, among Republican supporters. Positions on crime, immigration and Islam have hardened rather than weakened, while conspiracy theories that were at the fringes of the militia movement in the 1990s are now widespread.
The shift has been encouraged by generations of Republican politicians: remember Ronald Reagan’s use of the term “welfare queens”, and Newt Gingrich calling sharia law “a mortal threat to the survival of freedom in America”?
What the increasingly forgotten rise of the Tea Party indicated several years before was simply confirmed by the rise of Trump: the Republican establishment had radicalised its base to such an extent that it was no longer representative of its views. Trump didn’t hijack the Republican party, he provided the base with a real representative again. But just as the Koch brothers didn’t control the Tea Party, Trump doesn’t control “Trumpism”. He is merely the current voice of the radicalised base.”
Do you disagree with Newt’s statement? I, as a Deplorable, sure as hell do not. Them damn “‘Bitter Clingers”, right, Dave? And (common sense) positions on crime, immigration and (radical) Islam, you’re damn right they’ve hardened. Next…Oh, Dave, ummm, Merry Christmas! LOL!
I’ll keep that in mind the next time there’s discussion of mortal threats.
The survival of freedom is much more threatened by a Republican collective that would choose a lying ephebophile over any Democrat than Sharia Law ever would.
Barely 12 hours into the New Year and the Lib ooze continues…
