Morning Reads — November 27

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It’s not too late to join a gym.

News by the Numbers

$6.6 billion – Did you miss Black Friday deals? Fret not, Cyber Monday is upon us. We are expected to spend over $6 billion today on deals.

1 pound – That’s the average weight gain Americans experience over the holiday season (late November through early January). Two studies, one in 2014 and one in 2017, confirmed that number…I must be an outlier.

2 Chainz – The Trap House is back with Christmas cheer. You can visit Trap Wonderland seven days a week from 5 PM – 10 PM.

80 percent – The New York Times wrote about illegal immigrants in Atlanta. Spoiler: they’re getting deported in record amounts. It’s up 80% this year alone.

22 laughs – You’re welcome.

203,086 requests – Guns were a hot commodity on Black Friday. The FBI saw a 10% increase in requests for background checks. It set a new record for background checks in a single day.

2 candidates – Atlanta’s race for mayor can boil down to gentrification. The median home value in Atlanta has risen 53% since 2010, faster than the national rate of 27%.
