A Birthday, A Remembrance, And A Celebration

It’s much later in the day than I had planned to get to this post, but today was a bit of a microcosm of what this post is all about. Life happened.

First, I’m remiss in acknowledging the birthday of one of our own, Rob Oldham. Rob is one of our younger contributors, and a recent graduate of UGA. He’s working full time these days, but still manages time to get us campaign updates and the occasional policy post. Hopefully he managed to get a decent celebration in while enjoying his Thanksgiving leftovers.

Rob came to us at the recommendation of Jon Richards. Today would have been Jon’s 62nd birthday. Jon was exceptionally proud of what we did here, and took great pride in those he brought into the fold. Rob managed to distinguish himself in that regard. It’s clear to all of us that have been reading over the past year that Jon’s presence has been missed. And yet, we solider on, each of us growing in our own way as life happens.

And with that and in that spirit, today we also celebrate the accomplishment of one of our own. This morning Teri Anulewicz became State Representative Teri Anulewicz. She ran for the House seat vacated by Representative Stacey Evans, unopposed. That was no accident. I know several people who looked at running for the seat. Sometimes, people clear the field out of confidence in the skills of their opponent. She’ll represent Smyrna admirably under the Gold Dome.

Those who volunteer their time here run the gambit from students, to young professionals, to those raising families, seasoned politicos, and retirees. Each of us represents not only our own corner in diversity of thought, but in stages of life. I remain proud of each of their accomplishments, on and off of this blog.
