News by the Numbers

  • 400,000 fewer people – Economists said Puerto Rico’s population could dip following a series of hurricanes and economic fears. In fact, the island could drop below 3,000,000 people.
  • 800 businesses – DACA supporters have found themselves in an uneasy alliance with business interests. 800 businesses signed a petition in support of DACA with 40 of those businesses lobbying Congress.
  • 4 decades – Zimbabwe’s dictator of 40+ years has been given an ultimatum: resign by noon or face impeachment. He indicated Sunday night that he has no plans of resigning. Here’s a video explaining the situation in Zimbabwe.
  • $20 million – The DEA says one kilogram of illicit fentanyl can produce 1 million pills netting millions of dollars in profit. It found its way into Macon.
  • 256 games – The Georgia Dome is set to implode at 7:30 am. Join us in reminiscing.
  • $90 course – You can be taught by Steph Curry for less than $100. For those of you who don’t follow basketball, he’s one of the best players in the NBA.
  • $10,000 donation – One of Georgia’s largest food banks received a surprise donation from a donor. The Valdosta-based food bank serves a 30-county area. $10,000 can purchase 40,000 pounds of food.
