Good morning! Today is the last day to register to vote if you intend to vote on November 7 – and if you live in Fulton County, the city of Atlanta, nearly every other municipality and school district in Georgia, Senate Districts 6 and 39, and House Districts 4, 26, 42 (holla!), 60, 89, 117, and 119, you want to vote on November 7.
- Santa Rosa, California, is devastated by the fires that are raging right now in counties in northern California, including Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino.
- The massive Savannah River Landing redevelopment project is one step closer to realization.
- Dobbins ARB is operating 24/7 to support hurricane relief efforts.
- Attention, Jeff Bezos: your tech employees’ salaries will go further here in Atlanta than just about anywhere else.
- Also, so will their housing dollars. Confidential to Georgia’s economic development team: be sure to include slides about what $500K will get you in metro Atlanta versus what it will get you in Seattle, and also a map of major fault lines. There’s your presentation, bam, done.

Sam Olens primary qualification for KSU President was leadership. Some of the KSU cheerleaders took a knee on the field 30 Sept. Earl Earhart, after the Cobb Sherriff took note of the cheerleaders taking a knee, said Olens could direct the squad be kept off the field.

The cheerleaders didn’t go on the field this past weekend, with an Assistant Athletic Director stating that the knee had nothing to do with it. If that’s not $400,000/year leadership, what is?
They didn’t go on the field because alumni made it perfectly cleat they didn’t want the Lady Lemmings to disrespect our national traditions.
Yes the tradition of oppressing Black people must be respected!
From one angle, the “tradition” is just a rigid fixation on choreography. And maybe social conformity. Respect, honor, humility- are all emotions– and are not actually beholden to specific physical positions. In fact, there are infinite ways to express any of those emotions. You could even call that liberty. I’d say just keep it non-obscene.

The dynamic is pretty interesting here. The smart thing to do if you don’t like the protests is to ignore them. Who would even notice? But since Il Duce Deuce mentioned it on Twitter his hypnotized minions must also be outraged. Which draws further attention. So we are talking about racial injustice- the point of the protest!
I would love it if E. Elliott takes a knee! J. Jones has thrown down a gauntlet. Let’s rumble!
I will ask, of anyone who disapproves of this form of protest- what would be the appropriate form you would like to see?
Admittedly thinking out loud here:
Those who oppose the kneeling protest are saying: Don’t interrupt me while I am trying to feel all patriotic and tingly with myself. Intervening in that moment is not appropriate.
But that is exactly the point of the protest! Not everyone can feel that tingle. There are those among us who hear that song and think that “this does not apply to my brother”. Those who have a soapbox sometimes feel they must use it. This is one of those times.
You would have to be purposefully oblivious to not understand that we are in the midst taking a backward step concerning racial equality. There is going to be fight-back. Pick your side.
