Tracy Jordan to Run for Insurance Commissioner

From a campaign press release:

Tracy Jordan, a member of the Hoschton City Council , announced her campaign for the Republican nomination for Insurance Commissioner of the State of Georgia.

“I’m running because the insurance industry has run roughshod over the people and businesses in Georgia for too long. They can raise premiums without consequence and refuse to reimburse businesses without penalty because the Georgia Insurance Commissioner’s office has been asleep at the switch. The people of Georgia deserve a Commissioner who will make the insurance companies keep their promises.”

Mrs. Martha Martin, a long time resident of Hoschton will chair Jordan’s campaign committee, and Athens attorney Richard E. Rawlins will serve as treasurer.

Jordan began a career in Pharmacy after graduating from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and has spent 27 years helping sick people get better. As a full-time Pharmacist she saw too many of her patients having to battle insurance companies harder than they battled their illnesses. She also saw small Pharmacies suffer financially while some were forced to close due to extremely slow reimbursement times and Audit Practices by insurance providers.

“Georgia has had the highest or second-highest increases in automobile insurance rates for the past four years,” said Jordan. “State law mandates that drivers have insurance; so calling it a “free market” is a lie. “Georgia consumers need someone who will stand up for them, fight for them, and protect them from outrageous premium increases.  I will be that person.”

Jordan’s platform includes pushing to end the ‘file and use’ practice by automobile insurance companies to raise premiums whenever they want, forcing health insurance companies to reimburse paid claims within 30 days or face penalties, and creating a consumer advocate office. She plans to have staff dedicated to resolving complaints about Georgia insurance companies in favor of consumers.

Jordan purchased West Jackson Medicine Center in 1996 where she operated a successful Business before merging with another Independent Pharmacy in 2015. She is a Licensed Realtor with Winfield Realty Group in Suwanee. In addition to serving a second term on the Hoschton City Council, she owns her own business in Hoschton and sells properties all across Georgia. Her spare time is spent with her Fiancé Sam, family and friends, rescue dog Carolina, and horses Sugar and Majorette.
