An earlier and similar incident involving the USS Fitzgerald just months ago claimed seven sailors’ lives. Both ships carried state-of-the-art electronics, which makes you wonder what the watch was doing instead of checking their instruments. Apparently, Pacific command had similar questions and Admiral Aucoin takes the hit. That said, general support of police is such that I don’t see it getting much traction based on the video—not that it necessarily needs to—though the officer did over-react a tad.
