Runoff Election Results
There’s runoffs across Georgia today. Blah blah blah. Let’s skip to the results.
Most of them (Congress, State House & Senate, D.A.’s, etc) can be found here.
Want to know how Tim Lee is faring in Cobb? We’ve got a link for that.
How about Sharon Barnes Sutton in DeKalb. That one’s…well, maybe here eventually.
How about the Fulton Democratic Sheriff’s primary? Oh, look here.
If you’ve got other local runoffs, tell us about them in the comments.

Probably better to go to the SoS site and drill down to DeKalb County for Sharon Barnes-Sutton v. Steve Bradshaw.

Looks like Bradshaw took the early and absentee voting at almost 4 to 1.
A curiosity to me is the Dawson County Sheriff’s race with deputies Jeff Johnson v. Tony Wooten.
Link removed to avoid moderation. Full results came in while typing though, Wooten lost.
Wooten was the off-duty(?) deputy who subdued and arrested the nefarious Nydia Tysdale for videoing the shenanigans at Burt’s Pumpkin Farm.
Also of note early is that both Republican House incumbents who were forced into a Primary runoff are behind in the early going.
Rough nite for Tim Lee, but expected given that Boyce almost took the race without a runoff.
Drew Ferguson looks like Georgia’s next Congressman. Winning every county but Fayette and Coweta, which on current ratios would have had to turned out 18K GOP voters each to overtake Ferguson’s lead in the other counties. They’re about half that now. And most of the vote in at least Fayette (Crane’s biggest lead) is in.
I don’t think Kasim Reed would have crashed and burned as did Lee, because the public was more informed during the process and it technically wasn’t City money, but I think voter dissatisfaction with the Benz Stadium would have been evident if Reed faced re-election soon after the deal was closed.
The exact opposite is true. This election isn’t “soon after the deal was closed” because the deal to move the Braves took place in 2013. If anything, the dissatisfaction should have cooled off and turned into anticipation since then, especially since the stadium is a mere few months from being finished.
With Mercedes-Benz stadium, by contrast, the city council approved the deal in March 2013 and Reed was easily re-elected in November 2013.
My bad concerning Falcons/Reed. I didn’t mean to imply the Cobb election was soon after Suntrust Park deal was closed. Lee had the misfortune of loose ends, not unexpected from a privately/narrowly cut deal not subjected to much scrutiny….omitted I-285 overpass, recently parking, traffic plan (still up in the air).
Why can’t anything work right in DeKalb? I mean — seriously — can’t they even REPORT the election results over there correctly?
Return of Snuggles?
Gwinnett’s only result is HD 81 Republican runoff with Flynn beating Duffie 13 to 1. Not just a ration of 13 to 1 but that is the total vote count with 100% of the vote counted. Can we please consider non-partisan primaries and eliminate this nonsense?
Upon further review it appears that district is mostly in DeKalb but I still want non-partisan with top two going to the General.
It has been mentioned here and there in the past that regardless of the system we should have representatives that are elected by the majority of the voters. Two incumbent state house representatives from heavy Republican districts were defeated yesterday by opponents that were able to gather votes of 3-4% of the electorate. Under a nonpartisan system those same races would likely have been decided in November by roughly 60% of the electorate.
As Chief of the Parking Lot Police, Lee was deservedly crushed. Don’t let the door..:
Sad night to see Chairman Yates go. I was fortunate enough to speak with him a couple of times and he was always real friendly.
