The overall effect of a Brexit are debatable but polls show increased support mainly because Brits don’t like loose immigration policies and other EU rules.
Locally we have Trumpet, who repeatedly said he would “self-fund” his campaign, in Atlanta for a speech and fundraiser.
We will see how they like a growth rate of -2% (which is on the conservative side).
Marian Liou is spot on. Acceptance starts with a smile, personal pride and a willingness to do business or share information. It ends with scowls, exclusions and demands from either persons.
Paul Ryan says Trump is a different man in private. Is Trump himself a racist? It doesn’t matter much, because there is little difference in public influence between racist politicians and politicians that openly appeal to racist sentiments.
Rock on, Donald, you’re able say whatever you want, secure in the knowledge that nearly every Republican politician will continue to publicly support you. At some point that can go away though. The cognitive dissonance of politicians supporting you in one breath, and condemning your bullhorn racist remarks with the next, has the potential to exceed the capabilities of establishment voters that heretofore were ignoring dog whistles.
The analogy that rats know when to leave a sinking ship would be applicable, except that rats aren’t invertebrates.
I’d say the latest Bloomberg poll (the only one thus far taken that includes the Orlando shootings) showing him down 12% to Clinton and a 70% disapproval rate and a 55% rate of people who say under no circumstances will they vote for Trump (62% for women) is a good indication the rats are restlessly looking for the exit.
Rachel Maddow on her show Monday had a very good explanation how the ISIS/ISIL soft target came about and the effect it has in western countries.

The follow up interview with Richard Engle was also informative.
Maddow’s ISIL explanation is ok but her obsession with the “assault style” “military grade” SIG in the second segment is unacceptable. While I would not oppose a well-written firearm ban for those on the terrorism watch list, a terrorist could still acquire these weapons illegally.

If I had even dared link anything to a firearm, at least two dozen of you would be posting replies browbeating into the ground and a few of you would be gathering together a search party to figure out where to find me in order to lecture me senseless, but not before Noway dragged me off to gun range and taught me the proper way to fire the thing…

Amen, Noway! People are freaked out and sad, the media is talking the whole thing to death with partial or misinformation, and now even the Florida gators have gotten into the act of making us miserable. Wake up, Maggie sounds good to me too.
It ain’t over. AJC reports Westboro Baptists say they are going to Orlando. Anyone have any suggestions for a lake they can use for full emersion Baptisms ? Or a Psalm for their pastor ?

Interesting day in regards to gun control. Not to sound blasé, but there have been an awful lot of mass shootings in recent memory, yet this one seems to nudged the ball a bit closer to getting something done about them. I was actually quite shocked when I read that Fox anchors started to call for some sort of action against AR-15s and the like. Trump pretty much challenged the NRA to do something, which is unexpected, even for him. Any policy wonks have some inside info on why the sudden change of heart? Is there some polling numbers that have caused a re-think?
People are just being emotional, it was the same thing after the Newtown mass shooting. People poll that they want more gun control but when it starts getting down to policy it just doesn’t maintain any steam. It will go nowhere in the House. Besides, even if an ASB was implemented, everything would be grandfathered in so it wouldn’t be like you couldn’t find an AR or a 30 round magazine.
Traffic fatalities kill a lot of people too, maybe we should govern every vehicle to 30 mph?
