Check out this video of a group of Professional Republicans ™ talking about Trump. Its interesting to hear their thoughts and opinions of Republican voters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkYbBStofDo
Does anyone think if Cruz was in a general he could win once people find out about him?
……….The senator’s favorability rating is lower than Clinton’s and more people have a positive view of the former first lady than they do of Cruz.
His entire primary strategy has been to electrify and motivate white evangelicals and die-hard conservatives to cast their ballots for him. Cruz’s portrayal as the ultimate conservative has worked well in the primary, but it is not going to give him victory in a general election.
What is totally unclear is what groups Cruz will bring to the GOP ticket that are not already apart of his base of support. Most Republicans who didn’t vote for him now will probably end up supporting him if he’s the nominee, yet it’s unlikely a necessary number of Democrats and independents will.
Barring a radical transformation for a general election, Cruz’s positions on social security, taxes and other issues will not go well with demographics outside the GOP base. The incredibly bizarre statements of his surrogates — such as his father’s preaching that Ted is “anointed” by God to turn America into a theocratic state and a prominent Cruz-supporting pastor calling for the execution of homosexuals — are going to serve as easy fodder for the Clinton machine to alienate his potential voters.
Additionally, there doesn’t appear to be any sign that Cruz will pick up Trump’s newly engaged supporters if he wins the nomination — a scenario that may be music to the ears of the #NeverTrump crowd, but not so good if you’re trying to win an election.
Republicans can’t even pretend Cruz will win over minorities and millennials with his doubling-down on conservative orthodoxy and speaking style that eerily resembles that of a televangelist……..

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!!! I resemble that remark!!!
What is Cruz’s position on Social Security? I hope it is different from Trump’s, who basically says we don’t need to touch it except crack down on “waste, fraud and abuse.” If Cruz’s position is to give younger workers options, like personal accounts, well, more power to him.
The dirty secret is it doesn’t matter at this point who the Republicans nominate, there are too many people willing to not vote for the nominee whether it is Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Jeb or Abe Lincoln. Trump is too polarizing, so his supporters won’t vote for anyone else and his detractors won’t vote for him.
Black,
If you put popular vote aside, and look state by state, Hillary has a big problem with Trump. In the rust belt Hillary has real problems! You realize if Trump wins in places like Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania….where he is getting huge Dem cross over vote Trump wins. If you are a working class person, it is about jobs and wages, ie her record on trade/immigration kills her in the rust belt ie Lou Dobbs Dems/Indy. Jobs is always the number one issue. Below is from the liberal Huffington Post.
…Donald Trump Got More Votes In Ohio Than Hillary Clinton
Democrats still have a turnout problem……

More like Joe McCarthy 2.0.
Electorally, I agree with Jon to the extent it is hard to see Cruz winning any state in November (if the nominee) that did not vote for Romney in 2012. (Romney won 206 electoral votes that year and I believe 24 states.) And every Democratic presidential candidate since 1992, win or lose, has taken over 250 electoral votes (with 270 needed to win). Furthermore, not sure the nation is ready for another Texan as president—the last 3 from there, LBJ, Bush 1 and 2, did not exactly leave office with high ratings.
I’m 1/4 Irish American. I have celebrated The Feast of Saint Patrick my whole life… and never have gotten drunk while doing so. Apparently some people didn’t learn how to drink correctly.
I am 100 percent Jewish, and I will show tremendous respect for my Irish friends, by drinking green beer during “The Feast of Saint Patrick” 🙂
See, right there you are doing it wrong…
I apologize to my Irish friends, but I do like beer.
Smithwick’s. Guinness. O’Hara’s. Murphy’s. Harp. Kilkenny. I promise not one of these is green.
My favorite beer now is sweat water 420. I started drinking Canadian beer growing up an hour away, my favorites were Labatt, Molson and Moosehead, but would take a 420 over them anytime.
The new Guinness Blond is pretty good and they were giving out free beer glasses in Krogers a couple weeks ago.
Irish is an ethnicity group primarily based in the Celtic culture also found in Scotland and Wales and spread to other European areas. The feast of St Patrick celebrates the arrival of Christianity to Ireland. Running your DNA opens the door to a lot of Celtic – something festivals to appreciate.
A week ago at a Celtic festival we lifted a pint to some Scot-African guys in kilts celebrating their heritage with their families. Cool.
Imagine a bagpipe and drum parade of black guys in kilts.
I don’t need no stinking marketing program of food dye in my beer to appreciate my Celtic, Irish, Scotish, English, Nordic, Anglo-Saxon heritage.
My 1/4th Irish heritage is North Ireland Catholic hooligan from County Tyrone. No Kilts or bag pipes involved.
My other 5/8th is Rhine Valley Prussian Catholics, and 1/8 Russian Ural…
Your not alone in your fondness of your heritage

“The Celtic Cross is an ancient and revered Christian symbol typically not associated with extremism at all. However, one particular version of the Celtic Cross—a squarish cross with a thick circle intersecting with it (also known as Odin’s Cross), has become one of the most popular white supremacist symbols around. In the past 20 years, its popularity has done little but grow, thanks to its use as the logo by Stormfront, the largest white supremacist website in the world.”
There are asses bastardizing anything related to White peoples all the time.
I’m proud of my heritage and those that served including maternal lines to the Confederate soldiers and paternal lines to the Union soldiers. And both sides to the Patriots in the Revolution.
I’m proud of my heritage too, but that doesn’t make me feel compelled to publicly display an abstract symbol of that heritage that is insulting and antagonizing to millions of people.
The subject is the Celtic cross and until this link never knew it was an insulting symbol. If someone thinks so, tough.
The start of March madness and St. Patrick’s day on the same day? This will be a very unproductive work day. Happy lunch will turn into happy hour today.
I sure hope you picked your brackets before HH?
The ones I pick after a beer or three tend to do better anyway.

Food stamps: no idea what the cost of druggie inclusion is but handing out script in lieu of food for the needy is costly and does not address the problem efficiently but it is an easy cop out.
Gators as pets: anyone that dresses up a giant dumb lizard with teeth and declares it won’t bite is a prime example of our mental health problems. I encounter them regularly, watched some on a hike two days ago, appreciate them, they are wild, beautiful reptiles, leave them alone.
Could it be Hillary set up the private email server because she was using federal employees working on her campaign plans?
………..The FBI and the department’s inspector general are continuing to look into whether the private setup mishandled classified information or violated other federal laws.
For six months in 2012, Abedin was employed simultaneously by the State Department, the Clinton Foundation, Clinton’s personal office and a private consulting firm connected to the Clintons.

I have a great-nephew named Lochlan. He wins.
Thugs with guns rob jewelry store at Cumberland Mall today. By all means please continue to oppose open/closed carry legislation. Give me Constitutional Carry, meaning anyone over 18 can tote. Maybe someone could have stopped these pieces of trash.
Is there anything preventing someone with a carry license now? Except for the rules that Cumberland Mall chooses to have. Would you tell them they must allow guns?
Toters permits already have some limits in place. Unsure if any apply to malls like they do to sports arenas. But I doubt that robbing scum like was on display today would abide by them. Too bad the proprietors were unable to defend themselves and their property.
Maybe some toothless wonder with bad eyesight and no weapons training pulls out his gun and blows away some hapless shoppers who just happened to be in his way. It’s stuff. Not worth shooting up a mall.
Maybe you’d feel differently if some animals came to your home, broke in and stole your ‘stuff…’
No I wouldn’t. Shooting people should be left in extremis to the police and trained personnel. Not some trigger happy John Wayne wannabe.
Ahhhhh, be sure and relate your post here to your wife. I’m sure she’ll feel good about your attitude towards protecting yall’s home. Just as an aside, why don’t you go get yourself ‘trained’ so you wouldn’t have to be a ‘John Wayne wannabe?’
You sound just like Dukakis answering Bernard Shaw.
That exact thing has happened to me. I felt unsafe and violated it took weeks to feel normal again.
Not once, not even for a moment, did the thought cross my mind that anybody should pay with their lives for taking my TV and laptop.
Regarding your situation, Zed, I’m assuming from what you wrote that you or your family were not there when it happened. Thank God for that. Seriously. I’d hate to think what could have happened if yall had confronted them. I had a car stolen years ago. Even had The Club on it!! LOL! (they just sawed through the steering wheel and removed it…) I know the unsafe and violated part. I’ve been around guns my whole personal and professional life. I feel comfortable with them. I have them in different rooms in my house. I wish more of us felt ok with them.
