Session is back in. Makes me think of this song:

Now, for the news.

  • Homeowners and associations are turning to license plate reading technology to help Police ID suspected criminals.
  • Brian Kemp’s Inaguaration speech can be found here.
  • The DIA believes that the Chinese troops have reached peak ego and might be looking to make their ownership of the little island to the east official.
  • I had no idea that there was a Miss UGA… either way, congrats!
  • DFCS is sending out the food stamp money early… just in case.
  • Space wine is the new ice wine? The other Georgia thinks it just might be.
  • Some people think UGA fans have been smoking some of the special herb to think Georgia belonged in the CFP this year… UGA made it official. G-Day is on 4/20
  • Speaking of pot, a former chewing gum mogul is buying a company based in Mass. that cultivates, dispensenses medically, and has a retail store that sells cannabis.

How many know the Chinese have been exploring the far side of the moon for a couple of weeks? They’re mapping the terrain, checking radiation levels, and taking soil samples. They transported 13 separate payloads including scientific experiments for the Saudis, Swedes, Dutch, and Germans. They’re looking at using 3-D printing to build houses from moon dirt. They sprouted some cotton seeds. They want a permanent base.

They actually landed a robotic probe? Wow! Wasn’t that already done 60 years ago? It took them that long to steal the technology…

Maybe they can find the first fossils of life from earth… from asteroid debris from earth ejected to the moon. Those same fossils were long destroyed here by volcanic activity and plate tectonics. Its gonna show fairly complex early life that showed up on earth in an instant. Not some long drawn out primordial soup and a bacteria just shows up out of the goo…proabably going to be photosynthetic life that should have taken eons to “evolve” but was there almost from the start…

You talking about the hand of god moving across the waters, or are you talking about panspermia, the theory that organic compounds and maybe microbes come from meteorites and helped fertilize the earth? Either way I wonder what an instant means in a context of billions of years.

downthemiddle
downthemiddle

They aint no panspermia from a meteorite. It couldn’t live, conditions where they are, the intense radiation, the distances traveled…etc. There is only place not hostile to life in our entire solar system and most likely our galaxy— its right here. And thank God for climate change or we would not be here today. There were almost no prebiotics when the first life showed up 3.8 billions years ago. We were a ball of glowing rock and almost no water at that time. There was not remotely enough time for life to have evolved in an instant. So atheists and… Read more »

I’m just gonna chuckle a little at how 100% certain you are about 100% of the Earth, the universe, and everything, based upon the .0000000000001% of potential knowledge we have about the literally infinite universe. Then linking to an article which says, quote: “No one knows.” Then not believing a 97% consensus among climate scientists. You’re a Creationist, fine. You also appear to appreciate the cosmos. Wonderful. But your views of science are at times twisted, in order to accommodate your beliefs (although science also appears to inspire your beliefs, which is cool). I personally believe strongly in both science… Read more »

Well then we believe the same thing. Plenty of science AND Gdo. I figured you might come at me from the atheist angle but you did not.

Nothing is certain. I am relaying the latest in scientific research. You might read a few Hugh Ross books. There is plenty of science and God.

The more science we are exposed to daily, the harder it is to deny a God. The fine tuning required for life and our existence today is unfathomable.

bethebalance

I doubt we believe the same thing, but that’s clearly in part because my beliefs, like science, evolve.
But I am both a scientist and a Sunday school teacher.
So, it’s all one.

Balance, honestly I bet we think exactly alike on these topics. Go read Hugh Ross’s books, Improbable Planet and Why the Universe is the way it is. You probably wont put them down. I would send them to you but you probably don’t want your address listed. If you do, I will send them today. His Sunday school classes are on Youtube. His debates on hundreds of college campuses are online and I love his debates with the leading atheists. He is NEVER confrontational. Nor should be. I bet you will love the guy. He is an astrophysicist and I… Read more »

I’m not about to debate creationism but panspermia is an interesting theory. Scientists have found organic compounds including amino acids in meteorites, and it’s not inconceivable they contributed to the development of life on earth. “There is only place not hostile to life in our entire solar system and most likely our galaxy— its right here.” Life persists in very hostile conditions on earth, in mid-ocean vents with temperatures above boiling, in extreme salty or alkaline lakes, miles underground, inside rocks, in high radiation environments. It seems presumptuous for you to put a limit on the powers of the God… Read more »

Sure its a great theory but its circular logic….how did the life get there in asteroid flying through space in the first place?. An organic compound…a building block of a more complex amino acid….a building block of a protein and then billions of them in a single DNA molecule. Sure its all random.. All coming from hydrogen, a star turns it to helium and after that star formation up to Iron….then supernovas powerful enough to create the other ejectments. All expanding through the universe in a fine tuned or there is no life at all. I am extolling the power… Read more »

How long before the shutdown inspires primary challenges in some Republican districts? Is there a silver lining where voters start actively rewarding “radical moderates”?

Noway2016
Noway2016

Valid point but the next election is a long way off. A prediction that is gonna surprise you. There will be too much pressure on Trump. He’s gonna take Graham’s “partial reopen” scenario within a week. Gov’t to reopen.

bethebalance
bethebalance

Maybe after some new polls come out early next week or so. I think there’s going to be a crack in the floor that until now has seemed unbreakable. And if primary challengers do announce, that will certainly change the equation.
The saddest truth is that if something awful happens- God forbid- like a plane crash due to air traffic personnel problems- Trump will have zero political capital for the rest of his term.

No, Trump will send cold rancid cheeseburders to victims families. Look at how low we’ve sunk.

It is pitiful. No kitchen open at the White House, so Trump has fun with the kids. Buys a bunch of burgers, pizzas and with a sense of humor and gratitude everyone has a great time….other than the political haters!! You know what I think of them?… I know one of the kids there, not well mind you, but he had a blast. You know what was refreshing about the whole Clemson win and visit to the White House? Yes, that is a truly memorable occasion. McDonalds. Something to look back on wistfully.
Trump calls back another 50,000 to work without pay, but not 20 people to work the kitchen for one day?
And where is the food coming from for all these “working lunches” he is having trying to avert blame for the shutdown? Is that catered? Are the Congressional dining rooms open?

As I pointed out the hypocrisy that is complaining about people complaining about cheeseburgers after complaining about people who prefer Dijon mustard, I will also point out the hypocrisy that as you complain, DTM, about others being full of hate, so are your posts layered with hate. Balance I have no problem denouncing the haters. Yes they make me sick. I don’t like ungrateful folks. I really don’t. I dont mind pointing it out. It is politically incorrct to call bullshit when you see it today. Well call me politically incorrect. But is my starting point hateful? Hell no it isnt. Just today’s posts are a PERFECT EXAMPLE! How can anyone come up with something hateful when it comes to Clemson winning and having a White House visit? Sheer joy right? Nope. Well you have to be a sick F to come up with something negative. Who is more hateful? The haters or the haters that hate the haters? Or the haters that hate the haters that hate the haters…
Without a drop of moral equivalence, there is only one way to end the hate. Stop hating. Counteract what you find wrong, but to simplify for you: Stop calling ppl “a-holes” and such. Remove the hate from your heart and words, and maybe we’ll all get somewhere.

downthemiddle
downthemiddle

Balance that you have to ask the questions says a lot does it? It is not moral equivalence.

Don’t you as a parent try to correct a wayward child?

Or maybe do you coddle them and run to the school and bust the teacher’s rear end?

The question exists because the problem exists, and I directed it towards you because your posts contained hate- i.e. are part of the problem.
Yes, you correct children, but you don’t use violence, or yell at the top of your lungs “No Yelling!”.

Agree totally Balance. So screaming at folks and calling them racist and Nazi pigs is not very effective and purely hateful. You would certainly not do that to kids, adults or anyone else if you had any class, manner or honestly would you?

Especially when it is not even possibly true. Yet that seems to be the foundation of one of our parties.

bethebalance
bethebalance

“Seems to be the foundation of on of our parties.”
I think the “seems to be” is in no small part a byproduct of media coverage that focuses on the haters.
Not that hate shouldn’t be called out. It should. But it could be presented in proportion to the population of people and stories.

downthemiddle
downthemiddle

So true. I figure I know several thousand folks at most 2 might be considered racist, Far less than 1% of the folks I know.

How much longer does it take to realize the Pelosi, Schumer and the democrats hate TRUMP MORE THAN doing the right thing for the America people?
