SOS Office Issues Statement on County Certification
Today Secretary of State Robyn A. Crittenden issues the following statement:
“The Secretary of State’s office has been working closely with counties to ensure compliance with several judicial orders and existing statutes. Throughout this process, we have issued detailed guidance to county officials regarding compliance with these orders and, where necessary, recertification of their results.
“To comply with U.S. District Judge Totenberg’s order, twenty-seven counties were required to conduct a second review of provisional ballots rejected for code ‘PR,’ meaning that individuals did not appear on the voter rolls when they cast provisional ballots. Right now, over half of those counties have completed this review. To comply with orders by U.S. District Judges Jones and May, all counties were required to count absentee by mail ballots where those ballots were previously rejected solely due to missing or inaccurate dates of birth. At this stage, three-quarters of all counties have completed this review. We have directed counties to complete this review by 5 PM today.
“After we confirm that counties have complied with the judges’ orders and sent to the Secretary of State all required documentation, we will commence the regular process of reviewing this documentation in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance prior to state certification.”

I do not think that the counties will be able to finish today and there is no pressing need to rush them. Ms. Crittenden should wait until 11/20 and then certify. Especially if there is going to be a lawsuit filed anyway, and a federal judge or the state supreme court and force the state to hold a new election at any time … it doesn’t have to be the runoff date.
If there is, G-d forbid, a runoff/new election, then the antics of Stacey Abrams will be held against her. At the very least, she will not get the free ride in the media that she has enjoyed thus far.
I was just thinking. I wonder if all this count every vote, drag this election as long as possible is going to back fire on her in future elections. I have heard a lot of women that I know that voted for her just because she is a woman say, enough is enough she needs to conceed.
“. I have heard a lot of women that I know that voted for her just because she is a woman say, enough is enough she needs to conceed.”
Pardon me if I am dubious as to the veracity of that statement. Why didn’t these same women vote for Karen Handel when she ran for Senate and Governor, Michelle Nunn when she ran for Senate and Barbara Dooley (the first conservative woman to try to gain political traction in this state though her husband Vince is a diehard Democrat) just because they were women? Now had you said “I have heard a lot of PEOPLE that I know voted for her just because she isn’t Kemp, the guy who demonstrated for 8 years that he was either incapable of performing his fundamental job duties as SOS or wasn’t interested in it” then I would believe you.
Ah. I was certain that I read differently a number of times in the AJC in columns that pointed out that Barbara Dooley was running as a GOPer when her husband was a Democrat. Guess it must be a false memory then.
Or not …https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vince_Dooley
“Dooley briefly pursued the Democratic Party nomination for U.S. Senate in 1986.”
So … er … hmmm …
To paraphrase Dr. Strangelove, “You can’t count votes here! This is an election!”
Let’s see: y’all couldn’t steal the Kav seat; y’all couldn’t steal the Kemp seat; y’all couldn’t steal the DeSantis seat and y’all won’t steal the Scott seat. All of that failure. Is it heartbreaking? And please, be honest!
Mentioned this the other day. She didn’t demand that every vote be counted when she was elected to the Georgia House all those times, nor did she demand every vote be counted after the primary. She only takes the “count every vote!” stance when she loses. Also, after the election is certfied, all the votes will have been counted, including those that should not have been according to Georgia law. So the basis for her lawsuit won’t be the votes that weren’t counted because there is no legal obligation to count those votes anyway. It would be to get a judge to declare a new election because she “should have” won this one.
But sure, go ahead and endorse her antics. Such as her falsely claiming that Kemp was somehow responsible for the problems with voting machines when the state doesn’t run elections, counties do. Or her false claims about all of these tens of thousands of absentee and provisional ballots that Kemp was conspiring to keep from being counted that would trigger a runoff if they were: they never existed. Or her claims that Kemp was purging voter rolls to disenfranchise blacks …. when the law calls for them to be purged. (Yes, I know that Abrams and many on the left disagree with those laws. Doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with following them. Quite the contrary.)
You can decide to cheerlead for Abrams’ falsehoods and tactics if you want. Free country. But don’t dare play the race/gender card the way that you just did for those of us who refuse to just roll over and let Abrams do whatever she wants without pointing out exactly what she is doing.
And no, none of this “she is saying ‘count every vote’ this time because it is so close.” It isn’t close. It has been known from the outset that even if all the questionable and plainly illegal ballots were added to Abrams’ total outright it would not be enough to force a runoff. Abrams claims – that there were enough ballots out there to close the gap that Kemp was trying to keep from being counted – was simply not true. It is just that the same local and national media that badly wanted her to win and wrote all those campaign ads disguised as articles – promoting her and attacking her opponent – never challenged her as to where those votes were, because not a single county was reporting them. Not Kemp’s SOS office refusing to report them. (Although Kemp hasn’t been SOS for over a week.) The county election boards, including counties from huge Democratic enclaves, weren’t either.
But hey, if you can come up with some explaination for where this massive trove of votes that Abrams claimed to exist actually is, then I will concede your point that her only agenda was to make sure that they get counted. Otherwise she had more true interest in getting them than she did all those provisional ballots from her race against Stacey Evans that are still uncounted to this day. I remember her supporters and campaign workers shouted down Evans by yelling “trust black women!” whenever Evans tried to speak. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/08/12/shouting-trust-black-women-netroots-protesters-disrupt-speech-from-white-georgia-candidate/
Unless Abrams can come up with those tens of thousands of votes that she claims Kemp was trying to keep from being counted, she is living proof that her slogan shouldn’t be adhered to in her case.
I see a connection between the netroots incident, and that shameful affair at the state capitol the other day. Both were perpetrated by supporters of Stacey Abrams. Both were endorsed by Stacey Abrams. Is this the type of behavior we could expect if she had won the election?
On a lighter note, Sen Nikema Williams is said to have been strip searched. This is after a high profile arrest for a minor misdemeanor. Is there any way to verify this?
The spell check suggestion for Nikema is Nike.
And for lying to us about who does the counting.
I can only hope this clown actually files suit to throw out the election. It would do my heart good to see her get laughed out of court as a final insult. Maybe she figures at this point her antics have already permanently disqualified her from future consideration for statewide office, so why not go for it despite having zero shot at prevailing.
Even the incompetent, corrupt Gillum in Florida has not beclowned himself to the extent Abrams has with this ridiculous legal wrangling, despite the fact Gillum ran a much closer race to DeSantis than Abrams did with Kemp.
At this point I imagine many folks who voted Abrams are just frankly embarrassed.
Hate to break it to you chump, but your race baiting failed again. It was all you had.it failed with Abrams. It failed with Gillum. You lost.
Hey that is no fair. A friend of mine knew Gillum in college. He is a decent, diligent guy who just happens to have political beliefs that I disagree with. Also his tenure as mayor and before that city councilman hasn’t been anywhere near the disaster that Trump and DeSantis claims. He doesn’t deserve to be compared to Abrams. Had Gillum used the same tactics that Abrams did – spinning falsehoods to goose turnout – he actually might have won. Gillum is a good guy who just happens to have bad – from my point of view – politics. Were he to relocate to a country where his economic views are actually mainstream – France, Belgium or Germany for example – I think that he would be a very capable politician.
Stop. Just please stop. Stop using the race card to defend and justify anything and everything. It seriously is a reason why you guys lose a lot more than you should have.
This is not the same as any white male would do. First, the media is pointing out that the law that Abrams is publicly considering to use to sue to overturn the election HAS NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE by the many white males who have lost in this state, including in this very election.
Second, you seem to love to cite Roy Moore. Are you finally going to start acknowledging that the only reason why Moore lost is because a huge chunk of Alabama GOP voters couldn’t stand him and stayed home? Roy Moore had PLENTY of Republican critics during and after the election. Also the only reason why Moore won the primary in the first place was because the alternative was – in a sense – just as problematic, nonsense by a governor forced to resign that was trying to avoid jail and the state and national GOP decided to back his candidate.
Of all the white male Republican governors, senators and congressmen who lost this time around – and there were plenty – how many made false clams of outstanding ballots knowing full well they didn’t exist? How many refused to concede despite knowing full well that there weren’t enough uncounted votes to force a runoff? How many are right now considering shopping for a judge to invalidate the election and call a new one? How many of them have EVER done anything like that?
Go ahead and name them. And take your time.
Here’s a white male example for you:
https://www.vox.com/2018/11/14/18095592/trump-voter-fraud-disguises-cars-daily-caller-interview
“The Republicans don’t win and that’s because of potentially illegal votes,” Trump said. “When people get in line that have absolutely no right to vote and they go around in circles. Sometimes they go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again. Nobody takes anything. It’s really a disgrace what’s going on.”
I WANT A CEREAL ID.
Go write a check at Kroger for Frosted Flakes and your regular box of Depends and guess what? Show that ID…
A debit card?!?!?! Lololol. No. I’ve never used a freaking DEBIT card! If you lose and some schmuck drains your bank account, you have zero protection from your bank. They don’t have to give you your funds back. And they won’t. So, for the sake of your new little girls, please get a credit card! Put that debit through your Justice Department shredder!
Gulch. You appear to be a new poster here. A little history. Andrew here has two basic arguments about every single subject: Race and Nazis. And that’s it. He makes up fake quotes supposedly said by the conservative posters. Like he just did with Alpha a few minutes ago. Engage him if you want. Most of us just ignore him most of the time.
