Lust Wins!

In Powder Springs, Lust is triumphant.

Longtime readers may recall that in December 2015, Wisdom conquered Lust.

I’m referring, of course, to the runoff election in which Patricia Wisdom defeated Henry Lust in the race for an at-large council seat by a whisper of a margin. Last month, business owner Lust qualified to run for the Ward 1 City Council position, along with local speaker Alison Feliciano.

However, Janine Eveler, director of the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration, announced yesterday that Feliciano does not meet the qualifications to run. There are several requirements that must be met in order to qualify to run for the Powder Springs City Council, and one of them is that you must have sufficient funds in your account to cover the $360 qualifying fee. Feliciano’s check was returned for insufficient funds, so she’s out, and – albeit by a technicality, since no Ward 1 election will be held – Lust prevails in Powder Springs. His win will be certified on November 13 with the other municipal elections.

It remains to be determined how Lust and Wisdom, whose term expires in 2019, will collegially govern.
