Sonny Perdue and Tom Price To Stump For Karen Handel
Republican Karen Handel has had some high-profile visitors to help her campaign to become the Congresswoman from Georgia’s 6th District including Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Paul Ryan.
This weekend, according to the AJC’s Political Insider, Georgia’s own Sonny Perdue and Tom Price will be featured guests at a campaign rally for Handel this Saturday at 9:30a at the Peachtree-DeKalb Airport.
As the AJC points out, cabinet members are allowed under the Hatch Act to engage in political activities as long as they aren’t using their official titles…hence, “special guests”.
With a tight race, the appearance of both Perdue and Price at the GAGOP-sponsored rally is a campaign push to help energize the Republican base of the suburban Atlanta District before next Tuesday’s election:
But this one holds a more local flair for voters of the suburban district. Price won the seat in 2004 and notched commanding victories every two years until Trump tapped him as his health secretary. Perdue, now the agriculture secretary, was elected in 2002 the state’s first Republican governor since Reconstruction.
Tom Price was popular in his district. He and Handel are friends, but he hasn’t dipped his toe into the race since his appointment by President Donald Trump. The visit looks to capitalize on that popularity as the big push comes to get Handel over the finish line Tuesday night.

We’ve been over this. There aren’t even 23 million people covered that can actually lose health insurance. But you keep on spreading that lie and being intellectually dishonest.
Just because you repeat it doesn’t stop it from being a lie.
This is the current status of Obamacare. Plus the 105% in premium increases. You can lie about the problem or you can try to fix it.

The may shows that there are fewer choices under the ACA than in the private sector. One choice in provider isn’t choice. I would hope that you can read a simple map. I understand you are fine with the status quo. I’m not. I’m not having this discussion again. The map wasn’t for you. It was everyone else that won’t challenger your lies or happen to read this blog.
Again, repeating lies do not make them fact.
You know that Trump would have never won the election if he ran on this plan right? There is a reason why Republicans are doing everything they can to keep people from seeing this plan, they know people are going to be pissed. Obama went on C-span and took questions from Congress for 4 hours about the ACA. I’d pay money to watch Trump do that.
Also you keep calling them lies, but we at least have the CBO backing us up, just for my own benefit I’d love to see what organization your relying on for evidence that seemingly puts the Congressional Budget Office to shame. I saw your map illustrating the issues with Obamacare, very informative, but where is the evidence that the AHCA will lead to these area’s suddenly having competing plans that provide the coverage that people need. People don’t care about just having insurance, like that’s the endgame; they care about having the coverage they need and for it to be affordable.

“Not that you’ll read them or believe them.” Really?
The only thing I could find that refuted the 23 million who lose insurance, is this,
“What did OACT conclude? The top-line finding is that there will only be 13 million more uninsured (compared to CBO’s 23 million in 10 years), with the majority of those (8 million) resulting from the Medicaid reforms.”
Does this mean that you agree that we can safely say that over 10 million people will lose health insurance under the AHCA, because if your argument is that the number of uninsured is 13 million not 23 million that’s a fight I’ll take any day of the week.
Also the American Action Forum is a group that declares itself to be focused on promoting center-right policy. I’m not saying that means they’re not reputable but they have an admitted bias. Reading through that material, most of their praise was for the fiscal savings the bill would provide. I think that says a lot about what the priorities were when republicans wrote this bill. It was written to save money so that Republicans could pass tax cuts.
Price never had serious Democratic opposition in his 12 years in the House—his district when first elected in 2004 consisted of basically northwest and east Cobb, southeast Cherokee and a lot of north Fulton (district had irregular boundaries—basically packed with Republicans). Republicans changed the lines in 2005 to give him all of Cherokee while dropping northwest Cobb and adding some of north DeKalb. Perdue has been out of office for six and a half years, and I’m not sure Price’s popularity is transferable, but I guess in a tight race like this, at this stage you try about anything under the sun.
Does anyone have a breakdown of early voting by county? I heard something about 119,000 as of yesterday…Fulton has a running total on their website. In any event, we may see a majority of the vote already was cast before next Tuesday at the rate we are going.
There is no polling on it, but I would bet Price isnt quite as popular in this district any more. Thats what happens when your fringe views on healthcare make the front pages over and over again. I dont think many people who voted for him had any idea what his policy positions were…just that there was an R…they know better now.
