A Ft Valley security guard was stabbed too. Deal’s veto included Campus Security ?
Phelps, 19, Campus Carry would not have helped him. But if he had his Buzz Brockaway stun gun we might be reading another story.
Yea, I started to make some jokes about the stun gun in the frat house or Stadiums but was more curious on cop carry……but they are a reasonable legal alternative.
I mentioned this incident in a previous thread and yes, Phelps was only 19 but a security guard was also stabbed several times. Was the security guard armed with a handgun? Campus pd carry handguns but campus security usually don’t carry.
Additionally, there were several witnesses. Perhaps if one of the witnesses was armed this murder could have been stopped.
Perhaps… but a struggle and stabbing suggests the two were very close and moving. Not an easy shot.
The two stabbings were at different locations. Evidently pd was not available or not close. At sometime during this entire incident an armed person could possibly have ended it but we will never know because campus carry is not legal.
There are shootings all over the place all the time where people are allowed to carry, and it’s pretty rare for some bystander at the scene to be carrying, right? It’s a bit of a fantasy to use that as opposition.
I don’t know how many actually carry throughout the day but that’s not the point. The important point here is licensed folks should be able to carry if they desire.
The stun gun does seem like a viable option on campus and that bill passed.
Stun gun not a good option when dealing with a deadly weapon. Stun gun may have been marginally effective for the assaulted woman but stun gun is a bad choice once a criminal uses a knife, gun or any other weapon.
In other words, don’t bring a stun gun to a situation where the other person is armed.
I don’t have an anti carry position but at least the stun gun is allowed. It is Situational, campus security needs a gun, professors should be allowed but as for most students, practicality comes in, like the low odds of an attack, the chances in tight quarters of others hit, the training needed to carry and the equipment costs involved seem to me for stun items to be a good option for student defense.
Most of my college relatives can’t even keep track of their cell phone or iPad.
I got curious and checked WalMart.

Many students today are in their late twenties, thirties and upwards. Additionally we have some young veterans on our college campuses. It’s quite likely that if these folks are licensed, they are also responsible individuals whether they are on-campus or off-campus.
I do agree that at minimum we give gun carry option to professors, staff and campus security. Tennessee recently legalized campus carry for profs and staff.
Stun guns are not a good option for self defense.
Laugh or cry ? Do you have a right to refuse service to someone in a car, including one with disabilitiesbwith a bumper sticker you believe offensive ?
Sure. Bryan Adams and The Boss already cancelled concerts for people who had already bought tickets! Why? Because they disagreed with the folks point of view. No different than the wedding cake. Where is the outrage for this.
That’s Adams and Springsteen not performing for everyone, not picking and choosing who they’ll serve based on their interpretation of the Tennessee state book. The equivalent is wedding cake bakers not baking cakes for anyone.
I thought I would counter the Trump-is-a-sexist-pig fallacious meme since the Trump-bashing-we-don’t-want-a-GOP-POTUS of the supposedly GOP ‘throw-up Thursday’ crowd weighed in:
#ChrisMatthews-Todays-Turd-in-PunchbowlWinner:
“Did you see her walk? Runway walk,” Matthews said. “My God is that good.”
As Brian Williams attempted to go to commercial during coverage, Matthews, seemingly unaware that he was audible, continued. “I could watch that runway show,” he said.
Melania is a Mom, Chris, and a successful, strong, gorgeous lady. Crikey it’s almost Mothers Day and this soulless baffoon handily inserts other peoples feet in his mouth!
Meanwhile, I heard that Chris Matthews has small hands…
Chris Matthews isn’t running for president.

Way to go Obama!
Do you read, bro?
What’s so funny about ditching a frail person on the side of the road? What if that was your family? So sad that someone could be so petty, un-American, un-Christian; over a bumper-sticker.
It’s American Christians making America great again.
