2020 Primary Runoff Results

It’s also Election Night for the General Primary Run-off Races.

Republican voters in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District apparently wanted a true outsider. Marjorie Greene, who originally began her campaign in her home district of GA-06 to unseat Congresswoman Lucy McBath, looks to be sailing towards a victory to succeed Congressman Tom Graves in the US House of Representatives. Hopefully she doesn’t look to sue her constituents if they don’t see eye-to-eye on legislation or her QAnon beliefs.

Over in Georgia’s 9th District, it appears that Andrew Clyde will win against State Rep. Matt Gurtler. Both Republican nominees in the 9th and 14th will face Democratic opposition, but it’s unlikely that Democrats will flip either district.

Fani Willis also looks to be cruising towards a victory against six-term incumbent Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard.

Over in State Senate District 31, it Paulding County School Board member Jason Anavitarte won against Dallas Mayor Boyd Austin. Former State Rep. John Deffenbaugh will not be returning to the State House as he has lost to former Walker County GOP Chairman Mike Cameron for the State House District 1 race.

Tonight doesn’t look to be kind to incumbents who faced a run-off. I mentioned Paul Howard above, but Democratic State Reps. Sharon Beasley-Teague and Michele Henson are trailing in their respective races; and it appears that Gwinnett Superior Court Judge Kathy Schrader will not be returning to the bench for another term.

Those are the races that I saw on the Secretary of State’s website, so feel free to chime in the comments about local races.
