Jamie Dupree Finds A New Voice

Those of you who listen to WSB in Atlanta may remember newscasts with Washington updates from Jamie Dupree.  Jamie lost his voice in the spring of 2016 due to a medical condition called “Tongue Protrusion Dystonia”.  The condition leaves, as he explains in this blog entry from last December, him with a strained, strangled voice.  Jamie still covered Washington through his blog, but his voice has been absent from the airwaves for a couple of years, and it’s missed by a lot of people.

Jamie is one of the few political reporters who seeks to provide objectivity in an age of hyper-partisanship and constant criticism of news media.  Kaleb McMichen, Speaker David Ralston’s Communication Director, calls Jamie the “gold standard of political journalism”.  Jamie has accolades and well-wishes from elected officials on both sides of the aisle…including a few floor speeches on the US House floor.

Monday, Cox Enterprises rolled out Jamie Dupree 2.0.  Cox partnered with a company that sampled Jamie’s voice using his news clips over the years and paired it with a text-to-speech program.  You may have heard it on this morning’s edition of Atlanta’s Morning News on WSB.  If you didn’t catch it, you can check it out in the video below.

We are glad to hear Jamie has found his voice once again.
