Special Election to be Held After the Passing of Bob Bryant
Due to the recent passing of Georgia House Representative Bob Bryant, House District 162 is now vacant. Today, Governor Nathan Deal put out an executive order concerning the Representative’s replacement:
“Therefore, pursuant to Article V, Section II, Paragraph VIII of the Constitution of the State of Georgia and Section 21-2-544 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, a writ of election is hereby issued to the Secretary of State for a special election to be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, to fill the vacancy in District 162 of the Georgia House of Representatives.”
Bryant, first elected in 2004, passed away in a Savannah hospital early last Thursday. He served on the budget-writing Appropriations Committee, was a retired city of Savannah employee, and served 10 years in the Army. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.
