Morning Read for Friday, December 31, 2021

2021 has been a difficult year for many of us. So many things to say, but will anyone listen?

Music, scripture, writing, and reading other’s good writing have always soothed my soul. Your milage may vary. One of my favorites is Gerard, proprietor of American Digest. Following him for years, I’ve read the adventures of his life, from New York to Seattle to California and many places in between. Dig in often, dig in deep. There is so much there.

While cruising around there, I ran into this fabulous live recording of our favorite Southern boys out in California when we all were young. You know, when California was still a cool place to be. So young, vibrant, flaming guitars, all that hair. In three months, everything changed for these guys.

If you hang around long enough and get to know fellow writers, you’ll find that every one of them struggled back when “things were better,” and are still struggling under our new and every-shifting pall of imperial entanglements.

On a personal note – thanks to so many of you for your prayers, happy thoughts, and Pixie Dust for me this year. They were definitely felt and proved effective in my recovery.

Here’s to 2022 and hopes for a prosperous and productive new year.
