Good morning! I’m pulling together a short list this morning because 1) two of my coworkers are out with some not-COVID, not-flu nastiness, so I’m running the ship solo and 2) I’ve been on the phone with the Sparta post office this morning. - A Georgia judge has piled on to the list of Trump appointees trying to throw out the Biden Administration’s COVID vaccination mandate, this time for federal contractors.
- As evictions mount statewide, Georgia lags behind 38 states and the District of Columbia in disbursing the rental assistance provided by Congress, having paid out less than 15% of available funds. (Alternate link.)

- The Kellogg Company will replace workers who went on strike and elected not to accept the company’s 5-year contract proposal, even though a majority of their workers voted against it.

Gov. Brian Kemp is not the frontrunner in the GOP contest for his own reelection.
That’s the eye-popping takeaway from the first public poll since former U.S. Sen. David Perdue launched a bid to unseat Kemp, Georgia’s first lifelong Republican governor.
The Fox 5 Atlanta poll was taken just hours after Perdue announced his campaign and shows Perdue and Kemp tied at about 34% each.
While the poll is just a snapshot, it reflects the rumblings we’ve heard for weeks from office-holders, analysts and activists who predicted the GOP primary would amount to a true tossup if Perdue got into the contest with the support of former president Donald Trump.

99% Invisible produced a story about Collier Heights, a pioneering suburb built for Black people. Included in the documentation was a “residential security map” from 1938. The map color-coded the city’s neighborhoods: A, green, “The Best,” B, blue, “Still Desirable,” C, yellow, “Definitely Declining,” D, red, “Hazardous.” The implication was that the D neighborhoods were where Black people lived.
If you look at Boulevard on this map, you see that it is still called Boulevard north of Ponce De Leon Avenue. The neighborhood is C. Boulevard does not become a D neighborhood until Wabash Av., a few blocks south of Ponce De Leon.
