Georgia and Trump’s Impeachment

With Rep. Doug Collins and Sen. David Perdue standing as very vocal supporters of President Trump, Georgia has garnered a lot of media attention nationwide. Over the last day alone, Rep. Doug Collins has been added to President Trump’s Impeachment Team, Sen. David Perdue has continued his vocal support, and the AJC states that its recent poll shows a majority of Georgians do not want Trump ousted as part of the impeachment process.

Rep. Doug Collins Joins Trump Impeachment Team

Sen. David Perdue Vocally Supporting Trump

Sen. David Perdue appeared on Meet the Press to speak about the fair trial that President Trump will receive in the Senate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyw90LGpdjM

Sen. David Perdue was also a guest on the Hugh Hewitt show, where he took a strong stance in defense of President Trump. You can listen to the show’s segment with Sen. Perdue in its entirety: https://www.hughhewitt.com/wp-content/uploads/01-21hhs-perdue.mp3

Some highlights from the show, include:

All Politics: “For Democrats, this has nothing to do with finding the truth or protecting the Republic. This is all about undoing the 2016 election, affecting the 2020 presidential election, and gaining the majority in the U.S. Senate.”

Illegitimate Process: “I wanted to vote to dismiss upon receipt of the articles because, frankly, the articles are illegitimate. What we’re doing is historically very dangerous because we are accepting the result of a totally bogus sham over in the U.S. House of Representatives.”

Historic Precedent: “I’m concerned this sets a historic precedent that impeachment is no longer about protecting the Republic. It’s another tool that a party can use to unseat a duly elected president and influence the next election.”

Wasted Time: “On the day President Trump was inaugurated, the headline of the Washington Post said, ‘The campaign to impeach President Trump has begun.’ After that, we saw two years of the Mueller Investigation, and now we’ve seen this year wasted on this ridiculous investigation and these puny articles of impeachment.”

What’s Right For the Country: “When we were sworn in last week, you could hear a deadly silence come over the floor of the U.S. Senate. That’s very unusual. I think we all realize this is historic, and I hope and pray my colleagues will rise above this nonsense and do what’s right for the country.”

Real Results: “Last week was historic. We passed the USMCA on the floor of the U.S. Senate, and President Trump signed a historic trade deal with China. Yet, all we talk about up here inside the Washington bubble is what’s going to happen in impeachment. It’s crazy.”

AJC Poll States a Majority of Georgians Don’t Want Trump Removed by Impeachment
