APD, GBI and Others to Reinvestigate Atlanta Child Murders

Justice is never served too late and it may be served 40 years after the start of the Atlanta Child Murders.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said on Thursday the Atlanta Police Department, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Fulton County will use modern forensics to re-examine the evidence.

Wayne Williams was convicted of two murders in the case. But 28 people were killed and Williams was found to have murdered two adults. However after his conviction the murders stopped. Either way it appears something doesn’t add up.

In her press conference announcing the news, Mayor Bottoms said:

“It may be there is nothing left it be tested. But I do think history will judge us by our actions and we will be able to say we tried.”

Uncoincidentally, Payne Lindsey’s “Atlanta Monster” podcast looked at the case and a documentary series taking a fresh look at the Atlanta Child Murders will air on Saturday.
