The Divide Widens Between Duncan and Amico

Today in Atlanta, Democratic Candidate for Lt. Governor Sarah Riggs Amico can be found campaigning with New York Democratic Senator Kristen Gillibrand on an Anti-ICE platform. Meanwhile, Republican Candidate for Lt. Governor, Geoff Duncan announced the endorsement of 29 Georgia Sheriffs from across the state.

From a press release via the Duncan campaign:

“We need leaders who will help law enforcement bust gangs and deport illegal gang members,” said Forsyth Sheriff Ron Freeman.  “Geoff is one of those leaders but the other side wants to abolish ICE and turn a blind eye to violent crime. No thanks, our citizens trust us to keep them safe. We’ll stick with Geoff Duncan.”
Atlanta, Georgia ranks number two in the country for calls of Human Trafficking per capita and number seven for total number of calls. College Park, Georgia is on the top ten list for violent crime with the highest annual trend. And while there are many factors that make up rankings, more oft than not, there is a link between drug trafficking, human trafficking, gangs, and a lack of border enforcement. The Left should not be surprised that Law Enforcement is wary of State and Local officials who favor leniency on laws that lesson the ability of Law Enforcement to uphold their oath to serve and protect. You will hear Law Enforcement say over and over again that their job is to uphold the laws, not create them. However, the job of law enforcement is a calling. And that calling creates the need to protect those in their community.
