Rep. Handel TV Ad: Combat Human Trafficking

Congresswoman Karen Handel (R, GA-6) released her first re-election TV ad campaign today. The ad highlights her efforts in combating human trafficking. The ad, a part of a series of ads emphasizing Rep. Handel’s results in Congress, will run today in the Atlanta television market and digital outlets.

From a campaign press release:

The first bill that Congresswoman Handel co-sponsored after winning last year’s special election was H.R. 1865, which passed the House in February, and was signed into law by President Trump in April. The law had almost immediate results in shutting down Backpage, and many other online recruiting and advertising sites for Human Trafficking.

Other legislation includes S. 1536, the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act, which directs DOT to step up efforts to coordinate human trafficking prevention through all forms of transportation, and S. 1532, the No Human Trafficking on Our Roads Act, which directs DOT to disqualify for life any person who has committed a felony involving human trafficking using a commercial vehicle from operating a commercial motor vehicle. Handel voted for both bills that have since been signed into law by President Trump.

The ad coincides with the kick-off of Congresswoman Handel’s re-election campaign. On Sunday, Handel was joined by more than 100 supporters and elected officials in Roswell. In her remarks, Handel touched on a number of issues, including her work on human trafficking. She told the crowd, “Human traffickers prey on our community’s most vulnerable, our young people, and I am determined to stop human trafficking.”
