Cagle Promises to Preserve Stone Mountain
Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, GOP candidate for Georgia Governor, issued the following response into the NAACP’s call to sandblast Stone Mountain’s carving:
“When I’m governor, we will preserve Stone Mountain as the monument and cultural attraction it was intended to be – one that brings in visitors from around the world. I will work on behalf of all Georgians, but I will also stand up to the extremists who think we have to sandblast the past to move into the future. The Democratic nominee has called for removing the carving from Stone Mountain, and I’m the only Republican in this race who can stop her.”

Bait. Taken.
He’s starting to remind me of Cory Stewart in VA. I guess we’re going to have defend the confederacy candidates now too.
The Confederacy needs a voice in this election!
Oh wait….
I would’ve remarked on the ridiculousness of the NAACP’s proposal, except I can’t pass up pointing out Cagle’s appeal to racists in his remarks, clipped from the press release natch.
“When I’m Governor, I’ll fight to preserve Stone Mountain as the monument and cultural attraction it was intended to be”.
The craving was conceived and began during the second rising of the Klan as a monument to those that fought for slavery. It was saved by purchase and completion by Georgia to flaunt it’s opposition to desegregation and civil rights.
So much for intent. The racist just can’t help themselves because it wins for them.
carving. I favor the return of the edit feature too.
