New Cagle Ad: InKEMPetence
Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle has released a new TV ad that goes after Sec. of State Brian Kemp’s personal finances and business life. An email from the Cagle campaign shares an article from the Progressive Farmer and another from the AJC that they say shows that Kemp’s “private business left honest farmers high and dry.”
Scott Binkley, campaign manager for Casey Cagle for Governor:
“Brian Kemp can’t run on his record during his two decades as a politician and he can’t run on his record in business, so he’s built a campaign on gimmicks. He can get away with recklessly destroying his daughters’ dating prospects, but we can’t let him get away with hiding his career of incompetence from Georgia voters. We’re going to set the record straight on InKempetence.
Casey Cagle’s record of conservative leadership and accomplishments stands in stark contrast to the failures of Brian Kemp. The choice for Georgia Republicans is clear.”
Jim Galloway at the AJC has posted a response from Ryan Mahoney, Kemp’s campaign spokesman.

I’ve said it before: this race will be decided by who has the most and biggest guns. There are many issues in this state that the two remaining candidates could discuss but it will come down to who can wrap himself in a flag while holding a gun in one hand and a bible in the other.
If they want to attack each other why not do it on the basis of the record each amassed in office? Both Kemp and Cagle have a vast public record which may or may not be defensible. Kemp’s performance as SOS has many, many blots on it. Cagle was stripped of “ALL” power as Lite Gov. for at least four years. Why did his fellow republican senators issue such a severe and public rebuke? Can we at least discuss these issues which might reveal how these two men might govern?
I don’t expect I can change the conduct of the campaign so I’ll spend the next eight weeks turning the channel every time a commercial comes on and shredding the slick junk mail flyers for garden mulch.

Asked and answered.

“During the last legislative session, Cagle inserted his Senate allies into the middle of a Republican brawl over Gov. Sonny Perdue’s proposal to levy a tax on hospitals and other health facilities. Cagle backed the idea, but some key committee chairmen in the Senate vigorously opposed it. They claimed Cagle never consulted them before pledging their support. Cagle retaliated, stripping the chairmanships of Sens. Judson Hill, R-Marietta, and Preston Smith, R-Rome, two of four Republicans who voted against Perdue’s proposal. Sen. Mitch Seabaugh, of Sharpsburg, resigned his position as party whip.”

Care to analyze the high-minded issues-oriented rhetoric during the Democratic primary? Or is it only Republicans who get bashed for playing to the marginal and divisive issues that their base cares deeply about?
I’ll bite. What I saw from the Democrats was 1) Bio commercials designed to introduce them to the voters. 2) a lot of emphasis on improving the Hope scholarship and 3) a back and forth attack about who either hurt or helped the Hope scholarship during their term in the legislature. Did I miss something?
If they start dehumanizing immigrants or pulling shot guns on teenage boys, I’ll be the first to call it out.
Got my first political poll cell phone call a few mins ago. They were polling Repub runoff. Not been called since 84 Reagan race at UGA. My girlfriend answered the phone back then. They asked her if there was a guy there. She was pissed. I howled!!
Let me recommend “nomorerobo” as a solution. Also, try “truecaller.”
You have any tech advice for an adblocket for iphones?
