Still No Adjournment Resolution in the Senate–and Possible Ramifications

We know the Senate will work through Thursday and that’s when they hope to pass an adjournment resolution. The House has their protocol in order with the first 10 days scheduled.

If the Senate doesn’t pass a resolution on Thursday each calendar day counts toward the 40 (but I could be wrong on that).

Things get extra interesting when remembering that Speaker Ralston said he would grind the session to a halt without an adoption bill. That same legislation died in the Senate last year.

Casey Cagle, Josh McKoon and the rest of that lot want the session end quickly to begin fundraising.

So Ralston is either:

  • Going to get an adoption bill
  • Slow down the session or
  • Let the Senate be responsible for ending in mid-February letting the statewides run on doing nothing
