Governor Deal Makes D.A., Solicitor General, & Other Judicial Appointments

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the appointments of Jennifer E. Carver as Solicitor General of Bacon County and Robert M. Thomas as Solicitor General of Miller County. Deal also appointed Alisa Adams Johnson as District Attorney of the Rockdale Judicial Circuit.​​

Deal announced the appointment of Kathryn L. Powers to the Superior Court judgeship within the Clayton Judicial Circuit and Shalonda Jones-Parker to the State Court judgeship created by the appointment of Judge Powers to the Superior Court bench. Deal also appointed John A. “Trea” Pipkin III, Clint Bearden, Howard C. Kaufold, Jr. and T. Craig Earnest to Superior Court judgeships within the Flint, Northeastern, Oconee and Pataula Judicial Circuits, respectively.

The appointments will take effect upon swearing in.

Jennifer E. Carver, Solicitor General, Bacon County
Carver is a private practitioner at Jennifer E. Carver, PC and serves as the county attorney for the Bacon County Board of Commissioners. She earned a bachelor’s degree from South University and a law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law. Carver and her husband, Phillip, have one child and reside in Alma.

Robert M. Thomas, Solicitor General, Miller County
Thomas is a solo practitioner in Colquitt. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College and a law degree from the John Marshall Law School. Thomas and his wife, Beverly, have two children and five grandchildren. They reside in Colquitt.

Alisha Adams Johnson, District Attorney, Rockdale Judicial Circuit
Adams Johnson is the senior assistant district attorney within the Rockdale Judicial Circuit. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and a law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law. She and her husband, Ashanti, have three children and live in Conyers.

Kathryn L. Powers, Clayton Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Powers currently serves as a state court judge in Clayton County. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Powers and her spouse, Stephanie, reside in Jonesboro.

Shalonda Jones-Parker, Clayton County State Court
Jones-Parker is a deputy chief assistant solicitor general in the Clayton County Solicitor General’s Office. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis and a law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She and her husband, Grady, have one child and live in Jonesboro.

John A. “Trea” Pipkin III, Flint Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Pipkin currently serves as the Solicitor General of Henry County. He earned an associate degree from Reinhardt College, a bachelor’s degree from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law. Pipkin and his wife, Jennifer, reside in McDonough.

Clint G. Bearden, Northeastern Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Bearden is an attorney with the Law Office of David E. Ralston and serves as a magistrate judge in the Dawson County Magistrate Court. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Bearden and his wife, Jamey, have three children and live in Dawsonville.

Howard C. Kaufold Jr., Oconee Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Kaufold is a partner at Kaufold & Everett in Vidalia. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Kaufold and his wife, Sherri, have three children and five grandchildren. They reside in Vidalia.

T. Craig Earnest, Pataula Judicial Circuit Superior Court
Earnest currently serves as the District Attorney of the Pataula Judicial Circuit. He earned an associate degree from Bainbridge Junior College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. Earnest and his wife, Kemberly, have two children and live in Donalsonville.
