In Re: Snellville, “Where it’s always something.”

Governor Nathan Deal has appointed Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, Peachtree City Mayor Vanessa Fleisch, and Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin to review the indictment of Snellville Mayor Tom Witts in order to determine “…whether the indictment relates to and adversely affects the administration of the office of Mayor by Mr. Witts such that the rights and interests of the public are adversely affected thereby…”

In case anyone has forgotten, Mayor Witts was indicted on 65 felony counts of various financial shenanigans and one count of using campaign funds to pay for porn. (Ed. note: They charge money for porn?)

Witts later voluntarily suspended himself “…to get my issues out of the way so the other leaders can pick up our banner without the distraction of my defense.” Snellville Mayor pro tem Barbara Bender immediately assumed the duties of the office, but there is probably no truth to the rumor that she let the door hit Witts in the rear-end on his way out.
