Deal Names Nunn To Head DCA; Ryan Over Administrative Services; Noggle To Run Student Finance Commission

With the departure of Camilla Knowles at the Department of Community Affairs, some changes in the state’s organizational chart were in order. Governor Deal has announced three appointments today:

Christopher Nunn will lead the Department of Community Affairs, moving over from the Department of Administrative Services. Shawn Ryan will leave his post at the Georgia Student Finance Commission and assume control of the Department of Administrative Services. Caylee Noggle, the current CFO and COO of the Georgia Student Finance Commission has been tapped to lead that agency. More information about each from the Governor’s press release is below.

Christopher Nunn – Commissioner, Department of Community Affairs (DCA)
Nunn is currently the commissioner of the Georgia Department of Administrative Services. He was previously the deputy commissioner of DCA. Prior to joining state government, Nunn led a midsize, Atlanta-based professional services firm and worked as a management consultant focused on strategic planning, leadership development and process improvement. A native of Perry, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s degree from the University of St. Andrews. Nunn and his wife, Nancy, have two children and live in Atlanta.

Shawn Ryan – Commissioner, Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS)
Ryan is currently the president of the Georgia Student Finance Commission, which administers the state’s post-secondary scholarship, grant and financial aid programs. He previously served as the director of Georgia’s Integrated Eligibility System, the largest information technology project in state history, and as director of communications for the Georgia Department of Public Health. Ryan has more than a decade of experience in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as for the Mortgage Bankers Association and the Heritage Foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont. Ryan and his wife, Jennifer, live in Atlanta and are parishioners at the Cathedral of Christ the King.

Caylee Noggle – Interim President, Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC)
Noggle is currently the chief operating officer and chief financial officer for GSFC. She has more than a decade of state government experience in Georgia, including various roles at GSFC, the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget and within the University System of Georgia. Noggle has served in leadership capacities and on committees for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs and the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Millikin University and a master’s degree in College Student Affairs from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. Noggle and her family live in Tucker and are members of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
