Compromise: leave Stone Mountain intact. Move all Civil War monuments and statues to Chickamauga National Battlefield, where their “heritage” can be preserved, and put into perspective. Go have a nice picnic with your Heritages, everything in one place, call it The Rebel Mall, for all I care.
But it’s time to grow up, Johnny Flagger Reb.
A normal everyday citizen like me, or maybe some random black citizen does not like the sight of these monuments to a slave system because as a southerner, they only represent the pee stains of racists marking territory throughout the south; who went out of their way to never let anyone forget what they did, and how they still occupy the halls of power in State Governments.
As a white southerner who had ancestors on both sides of that conflict, I want to see them go to Chickamauga. They represent a Heritage of Treason, and ongoing White/Political Superiority.
We can not progress if we are constantly reminded of our failures as US citizens with these hideous stone and metal cause celebraters.
As another alternative, we could add to the statues some new engravings to reflect historical accuracy. So, right at the base of the statues, we could add the words like “Rallied thousands in support of racial oppression” or similar things.

I got an even better idea. Let’s strike at the heart of the organization defended slavery, started the Civil War, opposed Reconstruction, founded the Ku Klux Klan, imposed segregation, perpetrated lynchings, and fought against the civil rights acts of the 1950s and 1960s.
We need to condemn its members, take its money as restitution for the harm it has caused, and banish its members from public office and strip them of their citizenship.
Who is this group?
The Democrat Party.
