Karen Handel Announces Staff Hires

Karen Handel was sworn in as the member of Congress from Georgia’s 6th District on June 26th. Congress has been in session all but the week of the 4th of July holiday since then, which has required some juggling between executing the duties of a Congresswoman while building a team for the long haul.

While some key positions still remain to be filled, we’re beginning to get an idea of what staffing in the CD-6 Washington and District offices will look like.

Muffy Day is Handel’s new Chief of Staff.  Day comes to the Handel team from the office of Utah Congresswoman Mia Love, where she held the same position. Prior to Love’s election, she served as Chief of Staff for Representative John Campbell from 2008 until his retirement. In total, she has 15 years of hill experience, having started as a Legislative Assistant for Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

Others in the Washington office include scheduler Ashley Dalton, who held the same position on Handel’s campaign, Legislative Correspondent Kim Waskowsky, and Staff Assistant Justin Forrister.

The district office will be led by District Director Ashley Jenkins.  Jenkins is a Cobb County resident and former Sandy Springs City Council member.  She has been a sixth district resident for roughly two decades.

The Deputy District Director is Donovan Head. He comes home to the 6th District after having worked most recently for Congressman Austin Scott in Warner Robins.

Congresswoman Handel said the following of the building team:

“I am excited to announce these initial appointments. Muffy Day brings significant knowledge of how to maximize the effectiveness of the office and the team. Ashley Jenkins is a longtime community leader with deep knowledge and relationships across the district. Everyone on the team will work hard every day on behalf of the people of Georgia’s 6th District.”

Addresses for both the Washington and District offices are the same as those of former Congressman Price:
