Morning Reads – Thursday, June 15, 2017

Wednesday was a pretty terrible day in the news (and across the country). Here’s to hoping Thursday is better.

On this date in 1992, it was ruled by the U.S. Supreme Court that the government could kidnap criminal suspects from foreign countries for prosecution.

Increased security when groups of congress converge may be in order. But the calls for individual security of lawmakers while telling the rest of us to play nice is dodging the problem at best, cowardly at worst.

Boundaries will be tested and pushed out, we learned that in kindergarten.

With the challenge of social media and fake news the first order of business for legislators is how to handle those well outside the boundaries of free speech and peaceful demonstration.

Deal: OMG, another tax spin for some group or classification. How many productive hours or monies are spent on advantaging our taxes ? No Problem.

Got to say it is worth the effort, we love reducing or dodging taxes, enjoying Other people’s money or best, raising debt.

Flat taxes would certainly hurt the clever while raising revenue but spreading the pain is not politically correct.

Probly lots of loopholes with bad reasons as well ;b
But this one, to help folks with disabilties, seems clearly good.

Can’t think of a more powerful word to incite than “Resistance” that brings to mind many violent militant actions.

Unless the progressive socialists and anarchists now want to water it down to just meaning friendly opposition.
BS…..reckless hyperbole

You know…Newt had a similar response, which I found had a certain lack of sincerity since he (Newt), above all others by miles, is responsible for the cancerous tone of today’s politics. Resistance to lies, bad economics, and crooks in government in my eyes is quite noble. Trying to brand others using the term as “progressive socialists” (two terms I’ve not seen anyone who truly feels as though they are a progressive use), is exactly the problem. You didnt use it for anything other than hyperbole. Its that hyperbole that eventually ends up getting people shot…its just not usually people… Read more »

You know, you could take the collective, cumulative power from one swing of Bonds, Aaron, Mays, Klesko, Horner, Thomas and even throw in Boog Powell for good measure and they’d not have hit it so far out of the park as did this columnist! Every single breath and stroke of her pen is 1000 percent true! Enjoy!

You sure you have the right link here? 20 mins in (@ 2X speed to save time) and all I have heard is two guys rambling about taking their children to baseballs games, lime green vs. salmon colored pants and how they love Raphael Nadal… as compared Fedar with a side step to Ivan Lendl before going off on a review for the Mummy… the first Brandon Frasier one, not the current one, on a bad home speaker system…

It linked right when I first did it. It is a Camile Paglia interview. I’ll do it again. Thanks for your catch!

The billionaire landowner link was timely, what with the news earlier that week that Cobb’s water users, courtesy of Time Lee, were giving a company controlled by the largest individual landowners in the US, another $12,000,000, just for good measure.

This is the full article from Rolling Stone on Rachael Maddow. Regardless if you disagree or agree with her PIV, her research and fact process are interesting, and she is one of the better prepared commentators. Her Block 1 segment is always a learning experience.

“President Trump called the House’s ObamaCare repeal bill “mean” and said it should be more generous during a meeting with Republican senators Tuesday, according to a Senate GOP aide. […] It is unclear what effect Trump’s comments might have.” The Hill: http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/overnights/337660-overnight-healthcare-trump-calls-house-healthcare-mean-in Of course it’s unclear. Trump after all is the guy that inspired the “What does it mean when he says words?” debate less than a month into his Precedency. Meanwhile in the Senate: “Fast-tracking a major legislative overhaul such as health care reform or a new national energy tax without the benefit of a full and transparent debate… Read more »

Still nobody commenting on the Politico story. I think its important in a very nonpartisan way, since hacking tends to not follow partisan leanings. The extent of incompetence is alarming.

I hadn’t used the link until your comment, thanks.

At least it’s clear KSU shouldn’t have any business with voter databases or supporting elections. And it’s Sam Olens’ first cap feather since tripling his pay to become KSU Prez.

Leaving Roswell a while ago the news was cops blocking off Karen Handel’s street. Threatening letters and a white powdery substance were placed in about 5 mailboxes including hers.
